Dan Henderson vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua set for UFC 139 headliner
Posted on September 20, 2011, 08:15 AM by Anton Gurevich
According to MMAWeekly.com, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Dan "Hendo" Henderson will square off in the main event of UFC 139 in San Jose, California on November 19th. UFC 139 was left without its original main event attraction, Heavyweight Title bout between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos, but now it looks like the Ultimate Fighting Championship found a worthy replacement for what will fly the flag at promotion's debut on FOX.
Dan Henderson is currently 28-8 in his illustrious Mixed Martial Arts campaign (three-fight winning streak), with a famous victory over Fedor Emelianenko in his most recent bout. As for Shogun, the Brazilian icon lost his UFC Light Heavyweight title to Jon Jones at UFC 126, but bounced back with a convincing performance against Forrest Griffin at last month's UFC 134 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Middleweight bout between Vitor Belfort and Cung Le is expected to co-headline the card, which will take place at the MMA-proven, 18,000-capable HP Pavilion.

They are both studs but Im goin with Shogun with this one
And byw what is happening with Strikeforce, everyone Is going to the ufc. In over one year nobody is left to fight there.
Yes!! This is a fight I have been waiting for.
YES this is a genius idea cant wait for that one
*btw
Maybe they should make it there own minor league. Because your right all the talent is leaving. Honestly I'm glad to see the best actually getting to fight each other.
True! Till a few months ago Dana promised the fans more fights but if they keep buying and then exploiting and then finally closing down every relevant organisation out there we will see less fights.
Imo a big powerful competition for the Ufc would only be good for the sport but I don“t see that happen anytime soon - maybe in Europe as a counterpart to the US but that would take some time.
Damn what a battle this will be, shogun looked somewhat impressive in his last fight but I was more impressed with hendo's last fight, he looked like a wild animal against Fedor... Shogun will be lookin to get the w so he can avange his loss to Bones. UFC 139 card jus keeps gettin better
@TJbad I said somewhat impressive taking into consideration that forest looked a bit off in that fight
Awesome... really excited for this one.
Hendo got a fight he deserves, no more no less.
another sick fight added to an already stacked fight. I got hendo on this one cuz of cardio and wrestling 2 of shoguns weaknesses plus hes got a granite chin
hmm... i see Hendo taking this shit... don't get me wrong Shogun is a Beast.. but shit... Hendo been looking GOOD lately !!! That H-Bomb been droppin' his opponents like Birdshit..
Shogun is gonna catch a baaaaaaaaad H-Bomb.... oh Lord...
whop, just got a boner.
kidding aside, this is going to be great fight - I think even better than a GSP - Silva super-fight
I guess I messed Hendo being signed to the UFC now...
My man!! Shogun by tko (I hope)
Wow , gonna be sickkkkk , but i'd put my money on shogun , i'd like to see hendo actuallyy do something in ufc thoughhhh.
War.
looking forward to this.
this fight was probably likely for the next championship fight in PRIDE before it dissolved
WOW
I'm a big fan of both of these, I actually got Hendo winning.
Not that i don't like the fight because the fight is awesome!
but why all my favorite fighters are fighting each other recently
first Hendo vs Fedor then GSP vs Condit , Sonnen vs Stan and now Shogun vs Hendo...
like i said its a hell of a fight but i just don't want 1 of them losing
Shogun is just back on track for the title and Hendo is on a streak!
why not keep both as contender for Jones?
oh man im going to have a hard time on the picks for this one lol
Well it makes sense, you cannot give Hendo an immediate title shot, Jake didn't get a title shot right away. It's good for Hendo to test the waters against former champ. Most likely the winner of this fight will be next in line against Rampage/JJ. I'm rooting for Hendo, but i do like both guys and it's going to suck seeing one or the other lose.
definately a huge fight 4 d light heavyweight division realy depends on the winner imo as to whether or not d winner gets d shot at the title.cant really see dat happenin if shogun wins as he wud prob hav 2 wait for d winner of jones/rampage vs rashad.neway ive got 2 go with shogun on dis 1.dese ar2 of my fav fighters and i jus tink dat hendo is bein rocked a little easier than he has been in the past.he was rocked early in his last 2 fights and i tink dis will b a big factor as once shogun gets a guy hurt he absolute swarms.will b a very tight fight tho if hendo decides to clinch up and wrestle tho 4 sur
great!. think hendo is the man who will defeat jones, but he has to see rashad loose first.... woluld like to see hendo KO jones. if so he would be the greatest of all times...
This sucks.I hope they go to a draw. Both of my favorite fighters....
Only way Henderson gonna win this fight is clinching wear Shogun out and put him on the ground. It didn look like it in Jones fight but he is hard to hit. So dont really s H-Bomb in this fight as im wishing
see*
Who ever wins I lose.
