Dan Henderson says he's only interested in the UFC Light Heavyweight title
Posted on March 19, 2012, 08:38 PM by Trent Reinsmith
Early in March, UFC President Dana White, speaking of Dan Henderson said, “He’ll fight whoever has that belt,” said White, musing on situation. “Dan doesn’t seem too picky, I think he would fight Chael Sonnen (if he won the belt from Silva).” – for more see MMAWeekly.
The comment may have come as a surprise to some as Henderson had seemed focus on fighting for the Light Heavyweight crown after defeating Maurcio Rua at UFC 139. However, Henderson had fought at Middleweight in the past, so it did not seem like too much of a stretch that Henderson, who isn’t getting any younger, would be willing to drop a weight to fight for a UFC title.
Not so, according to Henderson, "I don't have any real desire to fight at middleweight. The only guy I'd cut weight for is Anderson Silva, win or lose that could still happen. But it's not high up on my list at all. Silva's the only guy I'd cut weight for. I've got the light-heavyweight thing in my mind and that's it. I'd fight Anderson Silva but I'm only interested in the UFC light-heavyweight title right now." – for more see ESPN.com
Dan Henderson is 29-8 in his MMA career, currently enjoying a four-fight winning streak, with victories over Feijao Cavalcante, Renato "Babalu" Sobral, Fedor Emelianenko and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. Henderson has five victories and one defeat as Light Heavyweight in "post-PRIDE era".

Hendo will be a legend no matter what, but I can't see him wearing UFC gold, which is a shame really ........
explain why? he certainly has the tools and the experience with no signs of slowing down
I dont like Hendo since he got lucky against Fedor.
(this useless comment was posted just to be weaked by lowkickers. ) Have fun guys
Against Jones I don't think Hendo would get close enough to deliver a H-bomb on Jones and realistically he hasn't got much else to offer him. Evans he'd have a better chance against but I still think Evans mixture of speed and wrestling would be too much.
Silva v Hendo 2 I think would play out much like the first unless Hendo tries to just lay and pray for 5 rounds, which isn't really his style.
I love Hendo but realistically I can't see him beating the current champions.
Jon Jones would make him tap in either the 3rd or the 4th round and Anderson Silva would once again make him tap in the second round. If he ever fought Dos Santos for a title shot in the HW division, which would never happen, he would, well, get decapitated by the Champ. His best shot would be against Georges Safe-Pierre, unfortunately he would never be able to make weight.. Well -- I think it's safe to say that you'll never be a UFC Champ, Dan.
MMAW - because Jon Jones and Anderson Silva won't lose to him.
I wouldn't say he has no signs of slowing down. In Shogun fight he looked pretty gassed to me.
being gassed has nothing to do with him slowing down in his career. He was rocked had an adrenaline dump after not being able to finish shogun 2 times and it was a 25 minute fight. Him being drained towards the end is understandable
Just like at the end of Franklin, Shields, and the Rampage fights. Hendo hasn't had good cardio for a while.
He was gassed by the end of the third in his fight with Shogun.
True, but look at his last six fights. He has rocked all of his opponents HARD with that right hand. All it takes is one and he has been landing it as of late.
I wouldn't say he has no signs of slowing down. In Shogun fight he looked pretty gassed to me.
I can't say Hendo would enter a fight with Jones as a favorite (maybe against Evens) but I wouldn't count him out.
If Hendo were to fight Jones for the title....i'd definitley go for him
I think he has a better shot at the Middleweight belt. I mean Jon Jones is huge and a freak of nature. Nobody will beat Bones for a long time. It's just not a fair fight for Dan, the size and age difference. Anderson is a great opponent for him and Chael if he beats Anderson. I know he has trouble cutting weight but he can do it. He just has to do it the right way and not too fast. He is 5'11" that is a middle weight size.
I love Hendo...... And we all saw what Anderson did to him. Jones would do the same. I would rather see him fight Rashad. If and when he fights Jones he's gonna get owned. And if he fights Anderson again he'll get owned again.
I like the part where he says Chael isnt worth the time even if he some how pulls out a fluke win against superman Silva
lol pulls a fluke win?? i think after the last fight you'd have to say if sonnen wins this, it definately not a fluke. Hardest part for hendo will be getting a title shot. If in that position he could definately win.
Henderson deserves it more than that limp wristed weak chinned **** rashad evans, that loser should be banned. Henderson vs Jones is a much better matchup.
No matter who they put in front of him, Dan is an animal in the cage for the first three rounds!
That right hand had some THUNDER in it in his past few fights.I can't wait to see him fight for the belt.
