I will have to go with Machida on this one...Rampage looked like he had cement blocks for shoes - slow and was just waiting to do a counter. Machida will be as fast or faster than Evans when this fight happens

evens speed was not what one him the fight, his wrestling did. machida wont push him against the fence like evens did and when they were just standing up, even with the speed, rampage was still the one pushing. if machida wants to keep the fight standing, rampage will land a power shot at one point and knock him out.

befoe machida lost to shogun (and even as a rampage fan) i wouldv said machida a hundred times out of hundered HOWEVER we all know what a loss can do to some1, especially an emphatic 1 like the ko that shogun gave machida

if rampage were to win this 1, i would say its because firstly machida may be shaken after that loss (u never know how hell react) and also because i think that shogun showed that machidas weakness is an aggressive striker who comes forward (not rashad cos he has no chin) and that has 1 punch ko power (shogun and rampage)....now that rampaages ringrust is no longer a factor and if he trains smart...i tink he could do it...

Machida doesn't hit that hard and he may have a weak chin, which makes it a good matchup for Rampage. In the clinch and agaisnt the cage Rampage has an advantage aswell, so Machida will have to pick him apart from the outside for three rounds if he wants to win, but it wont be easy.

Theres a lot of Kids that dont Know MMA , Rampage was 1 shot away from wining the fight. Machida has no ground game or speed like Evans. this fight is a matter of who lands the knock out punch first

I think Machida speed will win him the fight via decision. Rampage is hard to KO, and Rampage has gone to decision in the last 4 out of 5 fights.

    Shogun Machida fight:

-Machida did not let go, any kick, and these are fatal.

    -He almost did not punch.

-It would be because he was confused by the aggressiveness of Shogun?

-Rampage is weak and fearful at the kicks, and Machida will do it, kick him.

-Rampage will fall like when He fought Shogun.

    -Easy fight for Machida

I love Rampage, but I think Machida will be too fast and elusive for him. Shogun showed that Machida can be overwhelmed though, so if Rampage can use that as a blueprint maybe he can pull off the win.

as for Evans and Shogun ,Evans style gives him an advantage over Shogun . Just because you beat the champion doesnt make someone the best fighter out there.

totally agree machida not as quick as evans. i've got machida's last 4 fights on my computer. the key to his game is maintaining a certain distance in his last fight shogun really confused him and didn't get his distance right. rampage will do better than people think. also dana said maybe rampage for machida but machida will not be rampages next opponent i'd bet money on it

Really? Evans hopping back and forth and changing tempo during their stand up - rocking Rampage in the opening of the first round. Evans is a counter puncher and a wrestler - so naturally he did his thing, but Rampage had trouble (for the most part) trying to catch him. Rampage should have finished him off on the ground when he had him but hey like I said Evans was too quick for Rampage

No chin? Tell me who are all the fighters to knock him out and how many times? The shot that dropped him was a shot to the temple and lets see you keep conscious with Shogun pounding you in full mount when you're dazed...pay attention every once in a while. We all saw how punchers do against Machida when they try to close the distance, Rampage will go down exactly like Evans did

Machida has been punched in the face before. I think going 16 fights without getting KOd and then getting KOd by Shogun is scanty evidence for a claim that Machida has no chin.

I love both these guys but I think Machida will kill Rampage - Rampage looked stiffer than a irrect **** against Rashad - OK he had alot lot of ring rust and a lot of weight to drop and I know that took a lot outta him but still Machida is to quick and tricky for Rampage and anyone who says Rampages hands are too heavy for Machida he will knock him out is stupid Machida has destroyed heavy handed fighters before Rashad and Thiago Silva so that arguement is old and dum

Love Rampage but Machida all the way no doubts

Rampage could and should have finished Even when he rocked him.

Rampage was very slow and just lost his killer instinct! Machida will come all guns blazing due to his loss to Shogan Rua.

Rampage must get his fire back or we will see him lose more and more... If he can get his arse into gear maybe we will see an upset Vs Machida. I'm still backing Machida

I want to see Rampage vs James Toney. That way Toney can be 2-0 with two KO`s, and at the same time retiring Couture and Jackson. After his usefulness is up, give him a fight with Babalu, since Babalu will keep choking him after the ref tries to stop it.

Toney doesnt come close to beating Randy, I doubt he makes it out of the first round...this is MMA not boxing. It's hard to throw punches when you get dumped on your head and strangled by a life long wrestler and 14 year MMA veteran

I'd like to see him beat a guy like lil nog or thiago silva or even forest first, then fight the loser of shogun vs rashad or machida if he wins his next fight, THEN get a title shot, most likelt against shogun.... and become champ again.

i think if rampage came in with the proper gameplan he could beat lyoto the problem with rampage is he is way too predictable. if he went in there and tried to make an ugly fight not just walking forward looking for the one punch ko but really mixing things up he could win. i think rashad is actually faster than lyoto rashad just let his ego get in the way and fought a stupid fight. if they fought again it would be a much diffrent fight not saying he would win just saying it would be diffrent.

I'd like to see Rampage get a win and after the punch Shogun caught Machida with, it wouldn't be crazy to say Rampage could do the same but realistically I just can't see Lyoto falling for that. Superior foot control, range-skill and speed have this for the Dragon. Accumulative devastating strikes will see Rampage stopped a la Shogun or Silva.

I am going with Machida here. Rampage has one punch KO power so there is always the danger he will score that one bomb but all the cards are in Lyoto's favor. I think Lyoto wins by KO or ref stoppage.

Actually yes. He took a year off to whine - it wasn't due to injury. If you keep in shape it's no problem. It is a lame excuse, particularly if you're so sure of yourself going into the fight. "I dont deserve the belt if I cant beat Rashad" - well then stop making excuses and eat crow bitch.

Rashad beat Quinton by using Lyoto's very intelligent tactics. It's exactly what I was thinking even before Joe began saying it during the fight. Rashad was doing the wrestling boxer's version of Lyoto. And it worked, Lyoto will smash him in the exact same way. Diving in, diving out, tagging Quinton without ever receiving a single strike himself. He might not take a single significant strike in the entire fight.

I picked Evans to win by decision as he is the smarter fighter and knew he would put a game plan together that would beat Rampage if executed well. No offense to Rampage but I still believe he fights more on emotion than anything else, which is why a smart game plan well executed by a good fighter will beat him more often than not. Forrest did the same thing and I believe Machida would too.

Ultraxl you may nor be a kid but you don't know mma. Let me school you as a life long ma (not mma just a few years of that) fighter. Machida has a great ground game. He submitted a huge judo fighter in his first ufc fight. He also took shogun down beautifully twice. Both wrestling and judo style. He uses trips, sweeps, and throws. Rampage us one of mma's best boxers. But... His foot work is bad. He would easily get out paced and his legs chopped. A lucky punch is always possible. While shogun may not have been exactly lucky since his gameplan was perfect,..that temple punch could have missed or glanced...there is luck to the game too. Machida is a far better wrestler than

rampage and a very underated one. Watch his perfect technique when he takes shogun down. He also has amazing takedown deffence. I'd give this fight has a 70-30 machida edge.
