I think Kimbo would win. His ground game is coming along nicely, and Toney has none.

still he dont know if a guy like kimbo can even take him down!

kimbo is not a wrestler! and i bet everything i got toney will KO bimbo!

i would like to see a more interesting fight not just a rating freak show

what is this the WWE?? former boxing champ vs the most famous street fighter??

lets see a real mix martial artist vs a world class boxer who think boxing is better than MMA!

Junior Dos Santos vs James Toney!

    now thats a interesting fight!

I think the only good aspect of Kimbo fighting, is that he's pretty much at the bottom of his div. He does have decent takedowns and submissions (compared to Toney). He subbed Mercer. And imagine the statement that would make if Toney couldn't even hang with the worst of the UFC's HW's.

I personally think it would be a close fight. Toney could beat Kimbo if he came out oft he gate and overpowered him. If Kimbo could make it into the 2nd round I feel he would take it no problem as I am betting Toney would run out of gas, and Kimbo would work him well on the ground.

kimbo is no match for toney, this is a freakshow. Toney is beyond better in the stand up area compared to kimbo, and kimbo is still a very novice grappler and would likely eat a stiff punch on every and any double/single leg attempt.

the way people on this site talk about how toney would come out and just stand and bang, makes me think that none of you have watched him fight. he is a COUNTERSTRIKER he stays outside of striking range. while toney is a great infighter he has never been one to stand on the inside for long, likes to hit hard to the body in order to slip back out.

Kimbo will have a slight advantage on the ground but i don't see him getting close enough to toney to pull a takedown out and i really don't see him dropping him in the stand up.

lets not forget that toney has been training in MMA since he just before he began his BS campain, and even tho he say's a$$ed out things he is a smart fighter and im sure he isn't going to come into the cage without real preperation. Toneys attitude reminds me of early UFC's and Prides when fighters would come in with a single skill and expound the superiority of it loadly untill they received a rude awakening in the ring.

if this is gonna be Toney's first fight, then its a gift wrapped present from dana to toney, first win's free.

So whats your point? If Kimbo stands toe 2 toe with Tone, it will be a short fight period, same goes for whoever, because he is a counter-punching genius.

I put a good matchup because I think the hands will fly. This would be a chance for Kimbo to use his supposed "better ground game" but I seriously doubt he will ever purposely go to the ground. At the very least this fight would be a little entertaining.

Kimbo is not crazy enough to try to bang with Toney but I'm sure he is working on his ground game right about now.

i think kimbo is the best matchup for toney. if the ufc puts a ground fighter against toney, he won't stand a chance. they need to put up standup boxers against him or it will be boring. toney is one of the hardest guys to knockout ever in boxing and his defence is second to none. but mma will test all of his weaknesses and that means everything except boxing. a fight with dos santos would be fun to watch since dos santos likes to box.

I personally dont want to see Toney's first oppenent be someone know as just a boxer. If he came to mma to box that proves nonthing that boxers are better than mma fighter he should of just stayed in boxing. I want to see him fight some one that has a complete game which Kimbo does not have.

This is the fight that makes sense for both of these fighters! #1 Kimbo is still learning the ground game and his best arsenal is stand up. #2 Toney has needs to climb up the ladder and work his way up to stiffer competition. This is a good fight!

Toney is a Boxer who often leans on the ropes and picks his opponents off, he cant do that in MMA he will get picked up and slammed on his head. Plus the guy is a natural 168 - 175 pounder fighting at Heavyweight, Kimbo would be alot stronger. I dont understand Boxers like him going to the UFC hes gona get embarresed its two completely different sports. Toney doesnt get in shape for Boxing matches anymore theres no way hes gona learn the ground game. 1 kick to those 40 year old legs and he gona be on his back getting ground and pounded.

Grant it he is a little old to teach new techniques to but remember that until recently most MMA fighters were originally trained in one style (wrestling/BJJ/Gung-fu/Karate/Judo etc) and then they learned on the job. Wrestlers seem to transition well. There are lots of reasons why boxers would have a hard time (being on their back will likely freak them out) but he is not a stupid man and he can fight.

It is interesting how many people on this site have said "give him to Lesnar" when until the end of the Herring fight we were all laughing at him (okay he's still a dink but he's a scarey dink).

If I am Dana White, I don`t want to take chances in making the UFC look bad. Therefore I put a top representative in the cage with Toney. If Tony knocks out a washed up fighter like Mercer did with Tim Sylvia; do you think the media is going to mention that the fighter was "washed up"? No they are going to report that :Boxing champ KO`s MMA Champ. The problem with Toney, is that he is 41 years old and washed up himself. If he loses, people will say that he is old, and if he was in his prime he would have done such and such...blah,blah,blah. If he wins then MMA takes a blow to its credibility. People will say, how can an old washed up boxer just come in MMA, with all these elite fighters and black belts, and just win.MMA needs to stop setting precedents with these old dudes like Herschel Walker, Canseco, Morton, and now Toney. If they want to fight, give them a descent fighter. These types fought in the early days of UFC remember? You had a wrestler vs boxer or karate vs judo etc. MMA is the evolution of fighting, therefore someone claiming one style; in this case boxing is and should be at a serious disadvantage. To prove this, MMA needs to send a well rounded MMA fighter to demonstrate this fact.

What do you mean, Tim Sylvia was washed up!?? LOL! I beg the differ, but, he was NOT washed up, he was OUT OF SHAPE! He came in at 315lbs. basically he deserved being humiliated by a 47 year old boxer for not taking his profession seriously. Dude, you are now saying that Toney is washed up at 41? He has not EVEN FOUGHT ONCE in MMA SO HOW YOU FIGURE? How about Coulture? Better yet, how bout every fighter that looses or does not have a perfect record? LOL! There is no such thing as washed up! That is MEDIA IGNORANCE.

    Bad for two reasons.

    1. Toney Will Win

    2. Slice Will Lose

Slice isn't even a "striker" all he does is box. He ain't no cro cop so he HAS to stand and bang with Toney. Sure he prob has better ground game then Toney (One would hope so anyway), but how is he going to get him there. He sure as hell doesn't have any wrestling skills.

I don't want to see Toney win, of which he will with Kimbo. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional. Let's be honest, Kimbo probably couldn't outbox the top half of the light heavyweight, and yet you want to stick him in their with Toney who is a professional boxer?
