technique wise i have to say dos santos although carwin may be the more dangerous striker. i found it funny that brock was even on the list i think if he wants to keep his belt he needs to really work on his striking. bring in a big technical hw like vladmir klitsko to just beat his ass for like three or four weeks. then maybe brock might be a decent striker

Without any doubt, JDS. Superior skill and technicality let alone power and speed.

Ya, JDS has to be the best, he has technique, power and speed the total package, I can't see anyone out boxing him in the HW division

I almost forgot about Pat Barry, if we are talking about striking only Barry has too be in the discussion, I would say its between him and Dos Santos, Barry mite actually take it cause of his K1 experience and the fact that he throws more kicks than Dos Santos

@ninja.. very good point man thats exactly what i was thinking, and to say that he doesnt have the most powerful leg kicks in MMA is just plain ignorant lol jose aldo has some deadly ones but barry slams your shins with his tree trunks hes an excellent kick boxer

Im glad to see nearly everyone got this one right. No-one at heavyweight can box like JDS (excluding Toney of course). He has amazing technique and hand speed.

Thats what I like about MMA. Its a never fully answered question.

I still need to see Santos against some tougher comp, then maybe I can predict.

Technique it has to be Dos Santos , but the most dangerous to stand up with is Shane Carwin, one good hit and its bed time.

I agree, Santos is best and Carwin most dangerous to be hit by. A few years ago I might have said Cro Cop is best.

K1 is the best striking tournament in the World... hands down.

Mirko Cro Cop may be well past his prime but he competed in K1 and had a good deal of success in his time. The question that everyone should ponder is how would Junior Dos Santos (perhaps now coming into his prime) fair in a K1 World Grand Prix tournament?

Until JDS competes in high level K1... my vote still goes to Mirko Cro Cop.

well, if you are talking about K1 in MMA, then I would go wit Pat Barry over Cro Cop, he also has K1 experience and has deadly kicks and punches

My thoughts exactly. Has Brock done anything with striking that would make you think he can strike better than Yvel? No I don't think so

It is really hard to pick between JDS and shane carwin. JDS seems like he has more speed and technique, while carwin is just a damn powerhouse. I have to go with carwin though, but I think it is a draw between them in the striking department.

Now if we are talking about carwin vs JDS, then I'm definitely going with carwin. His wrestling would take JDS out of his element and carwin is the bigger guy.

Mirs mistake against Carwin was not letting his hands go like he should have right away. He has KO power, just connect and quit trying to control a guy of that size.

I agree, that is actually who I selected. While he has his shortcomings that have prevented him from reaching the next level, in terms of striking he may be the best in the division. Everyone on that list except for Cro Cop are just dangerous punchers. Kongo can be dangerous in all aspects of striking. I will even go as far as to say that Kongo is the biggest underachiever in the division, as far as not living up to his potential to be one of the best.

while we are on the topic we have yet to see cain or jds against a elite wrestler they both have had a fairly easy run. cain i see as a serious threat to brock jds on the other hand i think would get taken down and crushed

Kongo should be getting way more votes. Despite having a poor UFC record he is still among the top strikers in the HW division. It's his weak ground game that costs him his losses...

Considering that Crocop was considered the best striker until a couple of years ago, I had to vote for Dos Santos. The only guy who has ever really beaten up Crocop was JDS. Unless you count the time Overeem kneed him in the nuts till he couldn't stand up.

Pat Barry, Cain ,CroCop and Mir are a toss up for second place.
