He is a legit fighter. I think he has a much better chance than Demian Maia had.

He has a better chance than Mia, but that doesn't mean he's can actually pose a threat to Anderson... Anderson just needs to move up weight permanently.

Krogan, your just spamming with A.Silva hate atm and dont know what your talking about. You say "He has never been interested in moving up and its the UFC asking him to do it"?

The UFC were the ones that WOULDNT LET HIM do it. He has wanted to fight anywhere from WW to HW and they wouldnt let him until he "cleaned out the division".

Hate on him for his last performance, thats at least a respectable reason, but dont make shit up, just makes it obvious that your hating for the hell of it.

He better get interested in it. Since he has pretty much cleared out the MW division, there isn't much competition left. Going to LHW would be ideal for him, not WW.

Still a fight that would put asses in seats and sell tickets. I know I would love to see it. W Silva is in fact past his prime, but he is still dangerous. He is one of those guys that u never know what you are gonna get. He is definitely not unbeatable, but at the same time, he could walk away with a victory and nobody could actually be surprised....Dunno if that makes sense or not, but yea if u get what I am trying to say lol

I was never impressed with Chael until his last fight. It takes a legit fighter to dominate Marquardt like that. If Marquardt couldn't get off the mat, then Silva won't be able to either. If Silva's going to lose his title it will be to someone who can hold him down.

All Chael has to do is take down Anderson, but that's much easier said than done. I would much rather see Sonnen get knocked out than win by decision. As exhausted as he was after fighting Marquardt, could he hold Silva down for 5 rounds?

Firstly Silva is overrated, people seem to think that moving around equals winning a fight, I guess its the same people that thought Edgar won that fight. Silva's biggest asset is his opponents being thrown of by his odd style.

Anyway Anderson doesn't want to go up to LHW, never did and its not hard to look good when your manager picks your fights for you.

Personally I would love to see Silva pull that shit again and see if Dana will back up his words and drop Anderson.

I mean here is a guy that sits back and just posts random thoughts without even taking a moment to evaluate the validity of his statements!! Krogan, I bet that you got in trouble alot in school for not raising your hand and just blurting stuff out like a kid with turrets. BJ won you say? Wow I bet his after-party was out of this world!! Also, Silva has an "odd" style? Since when did Muay Thai style clinch and kicking people in the head become an "odd" fighting style? Maybe its his odd dance moves you're referencing? I dont know for sure......

Sonnen has to take Silva down to pound him out. How is that going to happen? Did you see the Dan Henderson fight? Sonnen is not Hendo's level so I just don't see a wrestler taking Silva out. He needs to face a dude with nasty standup who will trade with him and press him. He really just needs to move to LHW.

sure he's worthy. when your a champion like A.Silva or GSP who have cleared out their divisions, then really just randomly throwing the top 4 challangers at the champ is totally ok. its not like the UFC awards title shots based off of "rank" in your weightclass, and really having your fights follow a clear ranking system is the only way you can say that one fighter has "earned" a shot. so unless the UFC abandons its practice of match making based on precieved marketablility over individual fighters independent rankings, we can expect to see anyone just thrown in there with the champ.

He can bring ground and pound, and actual wrestling.

...of course Marquardt, Hendo, and Belfort should have been the challengers, in that order.

Dana f*cked up giving Belfort an immediate title shot, screwing Marquardt and pissing Hendo out of the UFC.

your absolutely correct, BJJ ins't very takedown oriented they generally practice the most basic takedowns and really just focus on the aspects of already being on the ground.

i would bet that Silva is good enough to probally escape Sonnen on the ground, Sonnen hasn't displayed the best sub d. i see Silva getting takendown and using a figure 4 wristlock of sometype to escape back to his feet, Sonnen will get battered on his feet, takedown Silva, wash rinse repeat....untill one is gased enough for the other take advantage. i think Silva's cardio at this weightclass at least is a little bit suspect and we have no real knowledge of Sonnen's championship round cardio.

the only way i see Sonnen beating Silva is if Silva gasses first and Sonnen gets pulled off from some GnP. Silva has way more means to win the fight good enough to sub Sonnen BJJ and of course he is lightyears beyond Sonnen in the stand up.

Hendos greco is top notch but hell try to stand and bang with anybody sonnen will use his wrestling more than anyone anderson has ever faced which I think will make this fight different than everyother silva fight and exciting

I think Sonnen has captured the hearts and minds of fans with his media blitz, but look at his record. Not that great. And he does his best work on the ground, where the fight will never end up. So basically, just expect him to get KO'd or for Silva to pull the same shit he does will all ground fighters.

No, thats not true. When a fighter steps out of a fight, unfortunately whether its his fault or not, he does lose his "spot" for the time being IF there is another contender already set in stone and lined up. Sonnen was promised this spot since the fight at 109 was declared a number one contender spot to face the winner at 112. Now, that fight was supposed to be Belfort vs Silva, and had Belfort won he would be fighting Sonnen obviously, but they cant push Sonnen aside. Although, I cant speak for everyone, but I think we would all rather see that fight!!

sonnen has nothing i mean, just for 1 bad thinng silva did in his last performance verybody hateshim now and think that sonnen will win.I know sonnen will attack silva so thats what silva needs to get him, but i have to agree that sonnen has more chances to win than maia

I would have to disagree. I believe the turning point is when he said he would put away Nate, and did..

Ya, ya.. and Franky has no chance of beating BJ, right?

I heard your song and dance before. Chael can and probably will.

By the way "superfan", title shots are 5 rounds..

He should be fighting the top guys at 205 . Period.

Chael may do better than some others have, but seriously I don't even care about this fight. Seems like another fairly easy KO for the "p4p champ". I'm just not impressed.

Its funny to me that Silva acting foolish seems to some how effect his abilities as a fighter to so many people all of the sudden? Let me ask u this? WHAT THE F*CK IS A CHAEL SONNEN? Lol, this guy stands no chance at all!! I do feel that he will attack because he will feel more pressure to do so to up-show Maia and please the powers that be, but that only means that he is getting his brain kicked out of his ear!!

Why is everyone thinking belfort is the answer, besides one win over franklin at 195 which rich didnt look like vitor hasnt had much of an impressive resume, hes not mentally there for the fight with silva. Hes gone back and forth on saying if he even wants the fight

sonnen is the best UFC chance we got, silva looks huge compared to the other mws, especially maia whos like 5'9 not the case with sonnen. and silvas strong takedown defense is excellent against bjj takedown..but it wont hold up against good old fashioned badass american wrestling! sonnens going to get him down and makeit ugly and either ;pull out a decision or make silva beat the piss out of him in an ugly battle out of anderson comfort zone with his finesse stand up...either way very happy with this fight selection!

I think he has media blitzed his way into this fight. I think he is a top contender, but does he deserve all the hype that's behind him? That remains to be seen. His last two fights were great, but his record is not all that impressive. He is going to need to take Silva down. And how is he going to do that? Silva needs to fight a guy with wicked standup to really be tested.

I am really going to enjoy the pre fight trash talking though. It should be some of the best ever. At that, Sonnen is clearly the champ.

    Silva's weakness is strong wrestlers.

Who's done best against him so far? Hendo and Lutter in both their first rounds, the two strongest wrestlers and the two who were willing to get in tight and take him down.

Sonnen by ground and pound TKO in the 4th

Chael is tough as nails, strong willed, and mentally rock solid. He'll come in prepared, with the right game plan, and he will have a good chance. I won't put money on this one either way, but if anyone is going to do it, it'll be Chael. Chael might have a better chance than Vitor.

I honestly believe that Chael Sonnen can and will beat Anderson Silva, he's tough, in your face, and keeps a good pace going

I'm no fan of what Silva did to Maia, but I've got to say, it'd be wonderful to watch Silva humiliate fratboy Sonnen for five rounds till he cries. I'd say go ahead and let Dana White's punk ass kick Silva out of UFC. I'll applaud Silva all the way!

I know its to bad Silva was told not to do that again.....I wish he would have saved it for Sonnen. He will DEFINITELY taunt tho! Its because it is like seared into his fighting style lol, I dont think he even thinks about it, he just does it. Of course, with Maia that was different, that took malicious premeditation. Point I am getting at is that it wont be to that extreme, but there will be SOME show boating, and I wonder how Dana will react to even a little now that the cry baby has something to prove.

People have figured out how to fight Anderson, staying on the outside. Forest had a real chance to win that fight, he's just too easy to goad in to a toe-to-toe slugfest. He has the leg-kicks and the reach and to take Anderson the distance and maybe win.

Chael can win this. His wrestling is right up there with Hendo's. If he can get the fight to the ground (if he can take Nate down like that, he can take Anderson down), It's just a matter of surviving the strikes to get close enough to grab Anderson.

got nothing against chael, but i think it is just an easy fight. he needs higher tier opponents. Mir/Vitor seems like more of a challenge.
