My thoughts exactly, plus he is older which certainly doesn't help in most cases....I don't see that he has any credentials at all, except maybe size going for him.

the guy is talking about competing everyone had to start somewhere

I have know idea what he has done and how and who he trains with,

he didnt say im here to fight the best and blah, blah, blahhh....he is bytching and moaning he just wants to train and fight so good for him..

look at Lashley he has bytched and cried about who he fight for over a year now turning down fights...saying he will only fight guys that are ranked in the top 5, turning down fight because he has a big name he should leap frog other fighters he isnt real impressive so for Batista to come in and just want to fight I say good luck and think he will do good

    if he trains

No idea, never heard of him until he started getting mentioned in MMA. I'd like to see some numbers... How fast is he? It won't be hard to look better than Lashley.

He's a typical WWE wrestler with no real experience to speak of, other than jumping around a ring. He went to "WWE school", and that's about it. He's big but not fast to my knowledge. I only know this because my son is an avid wrestling fan, and yes, I am doing my best to get him (my son) into MMA.

He is actually fairly quick and agile for his size. Those people predicting he will gas out are misguided. However, skill wise I do not expect him to be impressive and his age gives him very little time to prove me wrong. Although, he really just seems more interested in the experience and getting a chance to fight for real. Generally speaking, with so much hate geared towards pro-wrestling, then why not respect the guys that are trying to fight for real now that the opportunity has presented itself?

As far as achieving the same success as his pro-wrestling counterparts, it really goes on a name to name basis... In terms of Lashley, he may just surpass him. Lashely comes in to mma with a better foundation, but he is not making any moves or building a name. Lesnar on the other hand, has reached a level of success that Batista will never come close to. Barnett... Eh, I dont really see him as a pro-wrestler.

Agree. I think he has an uphill battle to be as successful as someone like Brock, or even Lashley, but who knows. Hats off for trying it anyway, because he's giving up a chunk of money to make the jump to MMA.

Good work with that man. As long as he's not 20, no big deal. That's when you're supposed to watch, when you're a kid.

So did he just get in to tard-wrestling from body-building or something lame like that? I'd think most of those guys have some amateur wrestling background, which is a good base to transition to MMA with.

Imagine if the UFC were as big as it is now, 20 years ago. fake-wrestling probably wouldn't even exist. These guys tend to go in to fake-wrestling because there's never been a legitimate sport where they could make money.

Kids get full rides through college with wrestling all the time, but practically nowhere to go with it beyond that.

Yeah, the kid is getting older and still hardcore into WWE. He has like a hundred DVD's or so.... probably fetch a couple of bucks in a yard sale a few years from now. Not good enough that the old man fought MMA as an amateur and trains MMA, BJJ, and Martial Arts. I constantly rag on him for not watching "real fighting". I think he's probably fascinated with the WWE women anyway....

i watched WWE "WWF and WCW at the time" until i was around 12 years old... MMA became alot more of an interest when i watched Royce Gracie in UFC 3, i was a really skinny kid and never saw anyone as small as him be so dominant... been addicted ever since and started competing in all forms of combat sports in 2004

Letter for letter what I was going to type but didn't haha... Seriously though. I'd think a serious heart to heart would be called for, and a warning about the potential danger of becoming a 40 year old virgin. Who would want to spend time with a woman who would take a WWF watcher seriously IMO. *didn't mean to get heavy there hah*

I remember people like ummm... Hulk Hogan obviously, Ultimate Warrior, and my favorite Hacksaw Jim Duggin. I was about 10 when I realized "oh... This is all bullshit... duh". And you fought MMA? My god man, teach him how to kick your ass in the gym. That will get him laid, not wearing Undertaker t-shirts.

I thought it was kind of funny that his biggest achievement before the WWE was graduating from so called "wrestling school" as the heavyweight champion, under the name "Leviathan" or some ridiculous crap like that.

All that being said, he's not doing this for money, and he deserves more respect for his endeavor to fight upward in competition.

Definitely. I'm sure he could stay in the WWE and have a very lucrative career up until retirement. My hats off to anyone and everyone who is willing to step into the cage, regardless of skill set or credentials. I wish him the best of luck , but I think the concensus is he will have an uphill battle with his limited background.

Yeah, he's probably got more money than he can spend. I want to see training video. He must have SOME reason to be confident, a lot of the guys he's trained with in fake-wrestling do have legitimate combat backgrounds and applicable skills, he must have seen something from himself to believe he's not going to make a complete fool out of himself.

Doesn't appear to be a complete moron. I'm looking forward to finding out though. That's what's good about SF IMO. They are valuable as a farm team where fighters can spend some time learning before moving up. They might not have a chance to compete otherwise.

i think that he has a chance to do big things in MMA, he is a big guy with a lot of weight to throw around, he can move pretty quick as well. If Dave gets the right training then i dond see any reason he wont do good in MMA.

I'm sure they all juice in retard-wrestling. Because their money is tied to their physique, and because doing the stupid crap they do, they're always injured. Roids help you heal. The effects of roids aren't long-lasting though, and if he does compete clean then it shouldn't be held against him. It's not cheating in retard-wrestling because it's not a sport.

Probably too old to be any serious contender, but who knows. He has strength and cardio so just remains to see how much technique and skill he has. Certainly will be a draw to watch and if he can win a few who knows?
