I think Chuck could make it back to the top, even win the belt - all he needs to do is being more patient and careful in the octagon instead of going for the kill all the time. He is in better shape than ever before. Maybe the athletes on lowkick can answer this : Does Loosing your chin really exist? Or did he never have one?
thats interesting, although the KO by franklin was pretty soft, up until the KO chuck looked really good, cant remember for sure but i think he was winning the round and movement was really good, it was only when he got franklin near the cage and just ran in arms flailing n got clipped cos he was only thinking about the offense.
Just because of how good he looked until the soft KO id like to see him fight once more against a mid-level opponent, its his chance to prove himself as still being a contender with a decisive win, or be sure its time to retire if he doesnt.
Losses are losses but you've also got to consider who theyr against- anyone but chuck wouldnt be pitted against the top levellers time after time if they were losing but its his reputation that gets him the fights where theres more to lose than gain at times
Chuck was definitely winning the round... and not by a little bit. He was mixing up his strikes well, shot for a takedown, and had great movement. He threw that kick so hard that blocking it broke Franklin's arm. The problem was he did what Chuck has always done.... He went in for the kill aggressively. Thats not a new addition to his game of course. So he has to have lost his chin a bit. As nice as it would be to see Chuck win one against a lesser opponent, I think thats the exact thing that he is saying he does not want to do. If he cannot remain competitive at the highest level, he doesn't want to bother...
Yea i can see his thinking but if thats his thinking hes got the same problem picking fights as he does in the ring - not knowing when it might be better for himself to take a step back, at this point in his career at least.
You cant keep losing and still have genuine confidence, taking a fight with someone his skill set line up well with is the smart move if he wants to make a run at the title. The self belief picked up from a win would be invaluable to him against a next opponent like, say, Forrest Griffin level
The only way Chuck beats the top guys at LHW (most of whom are strikers) is to utilize his wrestling and do what many here refer to as "lay and pray". Shogun, Machida, Jackson, Jones, etc, will all KO Chuck if he tries to stand with them.
I kind of want to see if he can beat some lower level opponents. If he can't beat someone out of the the top 10, maybe it would be easier to make a decision. The people he has lost to have been some tough guys.
Chuck himself has said he isnt going to change his style of fighting so with that being said, fight tito and call it quits because everyone else is knocking you out. Hes still a legend and deserves to go out on a good note
Chucks to much of a legend to see his legacy and fights in the ufc to be bogged down by losses to people that he would normally dominate. He can fight all day long with his fighting style back in the day but now hes gotta learn to slow it donw but i dnt think thats in Chucks nature to not go in for the kill when he smells blood. So hey get a win and retire. Ill still keep u in mind as one the best if not THE best.
Chuck wont be retiring till he beats up Tito one more time! and a rematch with randy too.. that would be a good two fights for him (not top level 205) too leave with, in my opinion
Even if chuck retires, when i see a knockout, im gonna remember the guy who brawled and knocked people out almost every match and who was loved by everyone. Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell
chuck should fight chris cyborge i think that would be a fair fight.. lol jk im a chuck fan too i hope he retires even tho i know he can beat tito and bonnar theres no looking past fighters in the ufc they can pull of an up set too theres no easy wins in the ufc

No offence to Chuck but, I think he should retire. His chin way gone. But I still think he's a legend.

@ JPG23 - (AKA The Wise)
Analysis, such as this, is why I call you wise.
I like your solution, JPG.
He needs to fight Tito and retire. No danger of being knocked out there.
Chuck himself has said he isnt going to change his style of fighting so with that being said, fight tito and call it quits because everyone else is knocking you out. Hes still a legend and deserves to go out on a good note
