After three rounds of back and forth Heavyweight action, the fight between Cheick Kongo and Travis Browne ended in a draw.

While both men opened up with big shots early on, neither fighter appeared to get the better of the exchanges.  Still, Kongo was succesful in controlling Browne throughout most of the fight, tying him up against the cage and landing knees at will.  As the final round began, Kongo was warned not to grab his opponents shorts, however just moments later he would once again grab on, forcing the referee to step in and deduct a point.  As the third round came to a close, it seemed the decision could go to either man, but in the end it went to no one.

Dana White picked it! Watch his video blog (number 3) and he jokes around saying it would end in a draw! Haha!

i was not so impressed with Browne. Yes, the first round was his but when congo became more agressive it was clear who the better fighter is. Its just to bad that congo has to pull of such shit all the time. didn't he had something like that in his last fight against Buentello? I think a point was taken away from him in that fight too.

the joke is the fight woulda been kongos but of course "DONT HOLD THE SHORTS" "well maybe if i slowly grab the shorts, the ref wont notice" that was painful to watch at points where he just didnt listen

It was painful to watch as he kept grabbing over and and over again, he was lucky the ref didn't take a second point from him.

Kongo needs to learn the basic rules of MMA and maybe understand the meaning of "DONT GRAB HIS SHORTS" as well as actually listening to the referee... Other than that, Kong will only be a gatekeeper in the division, too many holes in his game IMO!

I am suprised the ref let it go for aslong as it did. In the second round, Kongo was doing it to spin off the fence. As in grabing the guys shorts, picking him up and then spinning to push him into the fence. I thought it was super dirty then. And when the point was finally taken.

Question, could Kongo have been DQ'ed? I mean I know it seems stupid to think that you can look at someones record in MMA and see them DQ'd for shorts pulling, but that was just ridiculous.

    I have to remind everyone

    that strikes to the groin

    are not just momentarily painful

they can zap your energy quickness and strength badly

It is an old move by Dirty Fighters

to strike to the groin really hard, take their warning

and then attack with a fury knowing the foe is weakened

pretty much with any foul like eye-gouging etc.

If you can make it look vaguely accidental

you have done what you want to do

    which is impair the foe.

Allowances of course must be made for truely accidental stikes

and for "dramatics" you know, those guys that are always hurt somehow or the other

Kongo is a blatent fouler and needs to be watched very closely by all referees
