Heavyweight veteran Cheick Kongo, who will go head to head with rising contender Matt Mitrione at UFC 137, sharpens his stand-up at the Muscle Pharm Sports Science Center in Denver, Colorado. Kongo will look to build on the momentum of his three-fight unbeaten streak, which includes a win over Pat Barry in what was one of the most dramatic comeback victories in UFC history. Should be a good stand up war. I see kongo getting the win but meatheads been getting better each fight.

I like how they take a breather and walk around aimlessly like they forgot what they were doing.

I don't think working on his stand up is the issue as Kongo already has decent stand up skills and a lot of power to boot. Lets not forget that Mitrione is a Duke Rufus fighter and his leg kick attack is getting much better. If I were Kongo's team I would be working more on checking the leg kicks to avaid being chopped down or severely slowed.

Also I would think about really pressing the action and swarming Mitrione right away. He has had the luxury of fighting at a measured comfortable pace in all of his fights. Will he crack under a heavy, in your face attack?

I wonder if Mitrione will try to take him down. It'd be smart if he was working hard on that part of his game. Kongo has pretty much the worst ground game and submission defense in the entire UFC.

His grown game & submission defense is so bad that Cain Velasquez couldn't finish him inside 3 rounds!.

Wake up, the guy is probably the most physically impressive heavyweight in the UFC & he's very difficult to sub or hold down. He's only been submitted once in his career.

Meathead has very very heavy hands & has put away bigger guys but I'm sure they're going to stand & trade. Kongo has proved his chin is not too bad but his recovery is scary!

This will be a KO finish, I'm hoping Kongo but my head tells me different!

I agree with msot of your points but to say he is the most physically impressive HW, what about Lesnar and Overeem?

Not real sure here, i dont see meathead getting knocked out, but i could see kongo taking a decision, kinda the way he fought travis browne.

Kongo is not taking Mitrione seriously enough, but after he gets his ass whipped by Meathead he will change his view....
