"Here's the deal for me, it's not about title shots. So many people, they tell Dana, 'I want the title shot.' I've never told Dana that. It's real simple. I want the title. I want to be champion. And I don't want it just because I want a belt, I want to be the best. I want to look in the mirror and know that I'm the best in the world. If I can't beat Mark Munoz, then I'm not. If Mark Munoz, or anyone else, can come beat me, they deserve the shot and they can go have it. I'm not going to stop them.
You have to understand, Munoz and I aren't fighting because this is the match that made sense. We're fighting because Anderson doesn't want to fight me. Anderson trained with Munoz, he got destroyed by Munoz, he doesn't want to fight Mark. Ed Soares, Anderson's manager, worked diligently behind the scenes to make Mark and I fight each other. So, I don't have a big problem fighting Mark, my resentment is that Anderson got his way."

I dont always like what Chael has to say, but what he says about treating it as a competition not getting hung up on "fight" is the most professional thing he has ever said. It shouldn't matter if you are best friends, training partners, brothers, cousins, at the end of the day its a job.
I love chael sonnen . whenever he said something to make fun of anderson silva , he has a little smile . Hope he will be humorist after his mma career . I would listen him talking crap on fighters all day long. Even if he makes fun of fedor ,im sure it would be funny

In fairness, he does need to earn it. He's had one win since his loss to Silva and Munoz has a legit stake to the no.1 contender place, as does Bisping. Yeah the MW division is thin but he needs this fight just to earn the shot really, especially against a guy who beat him.
I like Sonnen but I don't think he believes this, Sonnen knows he needed to beat Munoz or Bisping to really earn another shot, only dethroned champs get rematches after one win. I mean look at Belfort, he lost to Silva and has been tearing it up ever since and there's not even a mention of a rematch for him.

Chael makes good points in this interview, Anderson does seem to be backing out fighting Chael. If Chael wins this one then Anderson has to fight him. Period.
He also resents fighting Munoz, because he is going to lose the fight. Then he will be one step further from a Silva rematch.
Anything can happen in MMA but logic points to Sonnen with his hands raised. 19/20 times

Nobody wants to fight Mark Munoz. Chael knows that neither he nor Anderson can beat Mark Munoz. Look for Chael to lose to Mark and Anderson to take a fight during the interim. Anderson will then retire the champ as he has always said he wanted to do.
Chael is screwed and his career is a colossal failure.

I give Chael his due. He is a world class trash talker but when he had his moment he choked literally got choked and tapped out. He wants to be the best but all his efforts have proven he is not.
Chael could be a great pitch man, a fight analyst, a promoter or comedian but he is not and never will be the middle weight champ of the world.
