Chael Sonnen praises Jon Jones, but blasts the Light Heavyweight divisionPosted on April 12, 2011, 12:41 AM by Joey Santosus
(Jon Jones) brings integrity, he brings class, he's good for the industry and he's good for the sport. The hot topic that everybody should be talking about is that he's been the champion for three weeks and not one coward at 205 has challenged him (...) The one guy they say gets to fight him (Rashad Evans) comes out and says, 'I don't want to fight him. If you don't want to fight him, go (...) If you're all scared of a 23-year-old kid, turn your gloves in, sign your pink slip and show yourself the door. - For more from Chael Sonnen's appearance on Ariel Helwani's The MMA Hour, visit MMAFighting.com
While making an appearance on "The MMA Hour," former UFC Middleweight title contender Chael Sonnen had nothing but positive things to say about newly crowned Light Heavyweight Champion Jon "Bones" Jones, however the rest of the division's competitors were a different story. Sonnen blasted the entire weight class for what he perceives as ducking the champ, zeroing in on Rashad Evans, who showed a reluctance in challenging his former Jackson's MMA teammate prior to signing on to meet Jones later this year.
With Sonnen's legal troubles, as well as his CSAC suspension, now behind him, the Team Quest fighter has set his sights on returning to the octagon. Though there has not yet been a date set, UFC President Dana White recently stated that he would like to see him return to action "A.S.A.P."
