UFC Middleweight Champion Chael Sonnen shared thoughts about Rashad Evans' performance against Tito Ortiz in the main event of UFC 133, last weekend on August 6th. According to Sonnen, Rashad Evans that showed up against Tito Ortiz is the best Light Heavyweight of all time, who will go straight to the UFC Hall of Fame if he decides to retire today.

Here's what Uncle Chael said in an interview to Sherdog.com (via MMAMania.com)

"I believe the best light heavyweight of all time is the Rashad Evans that stepped into the ring on Saturday night [at UFC 133]. A lot of people are really missing it, they're like 'Well, he beat Tito and Tito wasn't quite ready' and I'm going 'wait a minute, Tito's always ready.' Secondly, let's understand Tito hit Rashad so hard two different times. Once with a cross and once with a hook that would have sent most people down and Rashad walked right through it. Let's understand Rashad was caught in a choke and found his way out. Let's understand Rashad went on an absolute sprint where I thought 'wow, this is great' because I'm cheering for Tito and he's punching himself out. Not only did he not punch himself out he did about two or three more of those sprints in the fight and then he finally did get the finish. The Rashad Evans that was in the ring that night, people really need to look at that performance. That was flat-out scary. Rashad moves his record to 18-1, that's the best record in our industry, a former champion, he could walk away right now and he will go down in the hall of fame."

Despite the praise, Sonnen stated not once in his past interviews that 205lbs is the weakest division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship Chael Sonnen used that argument to ridicule Lyoto Machida during his reign as the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion that started with a brutal KO victory over Rashad Evans.

LoL. Rashad held the belt for half a fight & then got KTFO. Chael should do stand up.

Evans is probably top 10 but not top 5 imo Wandy, Chuck, F. Shamrock, Tito n Rampage or Shogun would be my top 5 best LHW's

If Wandy is the first person that pops into your mind when you think "Top 5 LHW" then you should probably keep your opinions away from women and children before it hurts someone.

Obviously, he is talking about top 5 all time. If you don't think Wandy is in that conversation, you're not much of an MMA fan.

Obviously, if you have to conclude your post with something equivalent to "you don't know much about MMA," you don't know much about anything.

rashads perfomance was really impressive after such a long lay off and i think he can beat any lhw on a good day. but to be the best lhw of all time you have to defend your belt!!!

Maybe not thebest 205er ever, but rashad definitly looked improved and determined. iv always been a rashad for, hes got great discipline and fights smart. Moving away from jacksons in my eyes wasthe best thing hes ever done. Camps focussed on himself only and not having to worry about fighting team mates and all that shit. Plus Tyrone Spong will improve his stand up greatly.

Whatever. I could beat Rashad with one hand tied behind my back.

Assuming my other hand is holding a gun.

Why do people even listen to this clown. He's 4-4 in the UFC and have never finshed a fighter in the UFC; On the other had, he's been submitted all times he's loss. Seems he always end up with his face in some guy's crotch and tapping.

Bla bla bla bla bla bla bladie bladie bla.

I wish somebody would shut him up ,he has an opinion on everything.

Ofcourse Rashad looked good, there's nobody who claims otherwise.

He'd do better on a talkshow then he does in the UFC.

Rashad looked in really good shape.

But i didn't see anything too impressive in his fighting skills .. and Ortiz isn't even a top 10 LHW.

    Clarification:

Not saying Rashad doesn't have good skills, just saying i didn't really see anything vastly different he was doing in this fight than any other.

no get it right, nothing MEANS nothing. It is the joining of the two words that is the give away, NO and THING, the NO being an abbreviation of 'NOT A' joined to the word THING, the rest is self explainatory. Anyway, you must be one sad guy if that's all you can point out on an MMA debate thread, if you aren't going to type anything constructive, even constructive criticism, then stay off your keyboard.....especially when you don't know what the hell your talking about.......

there was a diff but. tito isnt top 10 lhw .. maybe u can argue 10th.

so yes evans looked better. but compared to what? compared to a lower tier fighter yes.. but lets see him take on top 10 lhw then we'll see.

IMO his striking is too one dimensional .. get your ass to holland or Thailand evans!!

Easily the best shape I've seen Rashad in.

However once again hes fighting a guy who was on top of his game a decade ago. Some of your opinions are like watching a blind man pick out his favorite porno.

We'll see where Rashad sits in the LHW rankings after he gets tossed around by Jones.

This guy is the delusional mental case that seriously believes he can destroy anderson silva let me remind you all that the only reason he stayed in that fight is he was juiced beyond all means and still couldn't finish him imagine if they fought when he's clean??? Any takers???? I'll bet you he won't take him down like that and will prob get KTFO! Also predicted silva to lose at 135 which clearly didn't happen he's just a badgering bafoon that talks shit to get attention and people feed into it.... His record isn't looking to good either so I think he needs to take a step back on his commentating....and try and better his game first.
