Chael Sonnen: I can't remember the last time Anderson Silva wasn't hurt for a match

What's up with this talk about Sonnen defending his title? He never earned a title. Kinda disrespectful to say that without it being his personal quote.

I have always read Anton's "UFC Middleweight Champion" Chael Sonnen" as a furthering of Sonnen's warped sense of humor and enjoyed it in the humorous / ironic way it is meant.

@ phacemon - It's meant sarcastically, not literally, as an extension of Sonnen saying he is the true UFC MW champ because he beat Silva for four and a half rounds, technically making him the champ. I think it's quite funny myself. In all seriousness though i would really like to see Chael get another crack at Anderson......but we'll see what happens....

Silva's performance last fight was a similar dominating beating as the one he gave Forrest Griffin.....he always starts off slow, then blasts his opponent. (Except for Sonnen)

Anderson Silva is geting old for fighting and trains all the time to help his team mates too, that's why he's been geting injured quite a bit lately. And by the way, the last time he wasn't hurt was against Vitor Belfort, 1 fight ago. Chael is a sore loser, that's all that is to it.

Sonnen is the one major threat to Silva in the division because like last time, I think he would attack Silva from the word go. Both Belfort and Okami stood infront of Silva and let him control when he attacked and how. The outcome will probably be the same tbh but at least he pushes the pace and forces Silva to react as opposed to controlling...

This is a really bad match-up for Bisping. He can definatly win the fight on the feet and his takedown defence in increased dramatically. Still, Miller will probably drag the fight to the ground at points in the fight and work the submission, his stand-up is actually quite impressive too. Im not saying Bisping can't win, of course he can, but a loss to Miller who stylistically matches up well against him, drags him right back to the bottom of the middleweight picture.

people seem to write off Chael Sonnen because of how he promotes himself. he plays the bad guy and seems like it works extremely well for him. but let's pretend that we're all deaf and don't know about all the hype outside the cage and watch the fight. it certainly looks like AS is the big underdog being manhandled for most of the fight then catches Chael in an amazing comeback.

Yeah but you forgot to mention that Sonnen beat the crap out of Silva for 23 of the 25 minutes. Nobody you mentioned has come close to doing that. And you cant go on and say Victor would KO him. That is way off base especially when Vitor couldnt last a round with Silva. I had my hopes up on Vitor too but he disappointed me when he got caught by Silva.

Hate or love him Chael probably has some of the best takedowns and ground and pound in that division and is the only one to really scare AS in a fight since Travis Lutter. You could say Chael "Should have" won that fight but at the end of the day he didn't. Chael will beat Stann and hopefully get his rematch. I can't wait I freaking love this sh*t!!

chael was tested for HIGH level of testosterone after the fight. you can go on therapy and get your testosterone to a normal level but not higher than that, and chael and Marquardt had to HIGH!! you have to control before the fight that its not to high which they didnt....

Marquardt lost his job because he cancelled the main event and made Dana loose money, which is everything he cares about....

chael got suspended after the fight which made no problems for Dana, only for himself....

I think chael went to the fight with high level testosterone because he was afraid of silva, he needed to push him up a little bit, then he got caught and blamed it on the therapy....

Most of you guys are full of crap. Ok so Chael is not the champ, but every Brazillian that he has fought he has beat the crap out of for most of the fight. Chael problem is that he tends to get sloppy... Sloppy = mistakes= getting submitted. I understand why he doesnt respect alot of these Braziliians...Most of there only game other than Silva is on the ground. Thats nice if you are in a grappling contest, but go into the UFC and youll get an ass kicking. Chael should of won that fight by unanimous decision, but he made a mistake against Silva. Look at BiFoot... the only reason why he beat Fedor because he outweighed him by 30LB. And Fedor lack of wrestling and ground game caused him to get his ass kick too. But you put a good dude like Cormier with some boxing skills and good takedown defense and what happened, Can of Asswhippin. Bigfoot bitched out and was beaten like step child.

This guy does everything he can to keep himself in the media spotlight man, but he still makes me laugh either way. You would have thought that Chael would have learnt to at least defend the most common submissions by now instead of bitching about the brazilians fighting style, i don't know why he bitches when the most obvious clue is in the name BRAZILIAN JU JITSU. The fact that he hasn't learnt to defend some of the most basic submissions like a rnc or an armbar is just plain ignorance and he deserves to get caught with them every time. It's a shame really because if he did have a good BJJ game then he would be a much bigger force in the UFC. If he does train BJJ, he either has a terrible memory or does so absent mindedly, or he just chooses not to use it through ignorance, i wouldn't say he's racist though imho. That said i would like to see him fight Silva again but now with all the buzz surrounding Jonny Bones Jones people are already saying it would make for an awesome match up if AS were to move up to LHW and face Bones and i tend to agree. That fight would be AWESOME! There is also talk of Bones moving up to HW though which would mean this fight may not happen, we'll see what happens.....

But now that has worn off and he should just quit milking this thing for all it is worth. We accept the fact that he is a leading exponent in the gay movement ,cross dressing circles and a trend setter, but humility and respect should be the cornerstone all fighters build their career on.
