Chael Sonnen walks around with a replica UFC belt, says Anderson Silva is a fraud

As with most UFC cards, the days before the event are full of media responsibilities, today Sonnen appeared on Dan Le Batard’s show, “Dan Le Batard is…Highly Questionable.”
When Sonnen appeared on camera one thing became immediately clear, he had taken his claim that he is the UFC Middleweight Champion to another level, as he had a UFC belt hanging over his shoulder. Early in the interview Sonnen states that only one fighter can be champion, to which, Le Batard says, “Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t (Anderson) Silva the champ?” To which Sonnen replies “Yeah, I will correct you, you are wrong.” From there the two have an exchange about the belt.
From there we are treated to some classic Sonnen, as he takes a shot at Mike Tyson while speaking about Silva. Sonnen then explains the “misunderstanding” of why he tapped to Silva.
Other topics range from Sonnen’s time growing up on the “mean streets of West Linn, Oregon” to how much of a romantic he is.

I guess he did really take my advice regarding the replica belt thing. That's the closest he is going to get to a UFC belt.
Getting old, but still draws attention and keeps fans and pundits tuned to the unique character from Wesley, Oregon ...Chael's stunts and outrageous pronouncements are aimed at self-promotion--which translates basically as a fatter paycheck...In that respect, what he's doing is meaningful and purposeful business practice. He's selling a brand called Chael...The guy isn't delusional about his loss...He actually stated repeatedly that Silva is a superior fighter who knows how to win fights...That said, I have no doubt that he has deep faith as well that he can beat the champ...

if you look at it chael sonnen started to talk shit only when he got to fight anderson silva. before i dont remember that he was talking shit about demian maya, nate marqurdt, yushin okami or dan miller. this guy wants nothing but attention! he is a cheater in fighting (suspended by CSAC after the Silva fight) and a cheater in life (convicted for money laundering). and anderson silva is a phony?!

You gotta learn to not take this guy seriously... He's not delusional man, the way he puts it across, he's expecting you to realise that he's not being serious, but carries on in a serious manner anyway. That's why it's so ****ing funny, the guy's a legend.
Its the people that believe him that are delusional....his humour is that of a ten year old girl....he cheated against Silva and still tapped...thats because even against a talented opponent with extra brute strength and aggression due to PED's Anderson Silva found a way to win....a true champ .

Agree completely. How is it that ESPN's reporting has gotten even worse in the last year in regards to MMA. Everyone elses reporting is evolving with the sport. But ESPN just shows that they only care about Football, Nascar, Baseball, and Basketball. F'n jokes...
I was just imaging that Chael beats Bisping and then fights Anderson in Rio. After the fight the crowd rushes the cage and hundreds of rabid Brasilians pummel Chael into a bleeding pulp of broken bones. His right arm is ripped clean off of his body. Every rib is broken. His face is torn off and shoved up his azz. His legs are tied in a Gordian knot behind his head.
When he comes out of the coma 3 months later the first thing he says is: "I won both those fights".
I wonder if Brazil gives Chael some Sh*t for not learning Portuguese to do the interviews in. Since he likes to use that as a main joke about Silva learning English.

It doesn't help that the interviewers that have tried to get Chael to say something cool have all been f'n idiots. It's almost like these guys don't even know what MMA is and they are just firing off questions. While the interviewer is cracking up at his own jokes, I was rigth with Chael. I gotta admit, I've really started enjoying the rediculous Chael Sonnen antics and words..... man he's got a mouth on him but the good thing is is mouth is most definately connected to his brain. He speaks articulately, he thinks fast (which leaves me sometimes having to spend some time thinking about what he's really saying) but end of the day he comes to fight, he comes to break his opponent which means all in all that this loud mouth over opinionated peoples champ can really talk the talk then back it up and walk the walk!

and yeh Silva's also lost my respect, still a great fighter but becoming a true pain in the ass for the middle weight division. Just sign a contract, if you can then shut Chael up by putting a beating back on him (doubt that'd happen though) and be the champion that most are looking for you to be. Actually become the peoples champion mr Silva.
Although who really gives a s&*# about what I say or think anyway :-?
