Cesar Gracie responded to BJ Penn's famous Tweet, where the multi-time UFC Champion accuses Nick Diaz of "coward fence-holding strategy" during their bout at UFC 137. According to Gracie, Penn's comments are a result of being surrounded by "Yes-men", who will never let the former champion to reach his full potential as a fighter:

BJ Penn has apparently not come to terms with the beating he received at the hands of Nick Diaz. Below is his latest posting on his Twitter account:

@nickdiaz209 Look how much bigger you are in this pic..I thought you were gonna scrap from the beginning homie? What was that coward fence holding strategy to tire out the smaller man? Street fighter my ass! I made you fight like glass jaw @jonfitchdotnet poser!
I’ll be ready for that weak bs next time we fight!

At some point it is up to those around you to protect you from yourself. To take you aside and let you know you are wrong and help save you from your folly. Unfortunately for Penn he is surrounded by “Yes Men” that are unwilling to do that. The outcome will be predictable, resulting in a fighter that will never push himself to the fullest and will always have excuses for his losses.

One way or another, Nick Diaz's next opponent is Georges St. Pierre, while BJ Penn, if decides to postpone his retirement, is most likely to find himself in a rematch with Jon Fitch. Stay tuned to LowKick.com for more trash-talk between BJ Penn, Cesar Gracie, and Nick Diaz, whose response to the Hawaiian's comments could get things interesting.

Man I wish instead of saying all that random stuff about Nick, he would have taken Cesar's offer n joined his camp, Bj training with the Diaz bros, there boxing coach, Cesar Gracie, Shields and Melendez would have brought his game to another lvl

I think you mentioned this before Ninja. Right after news broke about the offer to join camps. Looks as if things are going in a completly opposite direction now. Just like Nick said, they could have been great friends, until they were paid to fight one another.

I hope that he comes back and gives Fitch his rematch. I hope even more that it's a five round fight. Judging from what we saw in the first fight, Fitch will smash him with the extra time to work.

I dont Penn belongs at LW, esp if he is saying look at Nick's size, Nick by far is not the biggest WW in the division.

You don't think that would deplete him too much, cutting that much weight?

That much weight? He walks around at 165-169... it's roughly 25lbs to cut. Pretty normal cut for today's MMA, if you ask me....

But if he walks around at around 170, then how hard is he really training to be compettive at 170?

He has looked sluggish in every weight class that he has fought in. But he has also looked fantastic at times in every weight class that he has fought in.

I would be curious to see how he would do down there; seeing as he would be the bigger physically when compared to most in that class. What would be a goood first fight at 145?

If Kenny Florian can do it so cold BJ, you're right it might be too much weight but if he tightened up his diet he certainly could get down to 145, I bet Aldo is bigger than him.

BJ Penn was small as a lightweight. He's a natural Featherweight.

Like many posters said in the last post about Penns tweet, I love Penn he is my favorite fighter but I am getting sick of when he losses him coming up with excuses. I really hope this wasn't really him tweeting but it's starting to look like it was, and as for cesar Gracie i can't believe im agreeing with him but he is right. If Penn does come back he needs to join a camp thats not focused around him. He is surrounded by "Yes Men" IMO you can see it in between rounds of his fight his corner never really tells him to do anything they just say kick this guys ass over and over again.

Now that is an interesting match. But seeing as Nate just smashed Nick's striking record in his match with the Cowboy; I think Nate might give Penn just what he's asking for if it is a stand up war. Be careful what you ask for, because you just might get it!

Baby J.... Being a ****in baby... Take your loss like a man !

dude makes so many excuses after all his losses.... time to take a look in the mirror and make some changes or just retire and train up and coming fighters.

Was one of the best, one of my favorites, but these excuses are starting to make me sick and tired of listening to him.

The reason why people love GSP (aside from literally owing his competition) is the fact he expresses himself unlike any fighter. He admits his mistakes, expresses his fears and anxieties for the world to hear.

BJ Penn needs to disappear. The dude can't fight anymore, or to quote Sonnen "he just can't do this work".

Lets go back on his career for a minute:

Loss to Diaz, who many believe still needs to fight top guys and not Strikeforce cans.

Went to a Draw with Fitch.

Won a KO over an aged and glass-jawed Hughes, then claims he is back? To what? Go to a Draw and then lose to Diaz?

Lost twice to Frankie. No excuse for losing the second time. If you are a true "prodigy" then you overcome and adapt and learn to conquer those that defeated you previously. But he didn't.

Won over Sanchez and Florian, guys that aren't quite the cream of the crop. Then quit in the GSP fight after claiming GSP quits.

BJ needs to disappear or lose the moniker "the prodigy" because he is not.

Bj got the nick name "the prodigy" not for his MMA skills but for his Bjj skills, he earned his black belt in 3 yrs which is almost unheard of n became the fight American to win a major Bjj tournament, hes easily considered one of the best American Bjj fighters ever and as for MMA, he's considered one of the greatest fighters ever because he beat Din Thomas in his 2nd fight ever back when everyone thought he would lose and Din Thomas was seen as a future star, and then left the UFC to fight Gomi who was considered to be the best LW in the world by many ppl and Bj choked him out and then came back to the UFC n choked out Hughes who was invincible at 170, Penn is the true definition of prodigy seeing that he went all the way up to HW to fight Machida without gaining any muscle and relied purely on his skill set and gave him prolly the his hardest fight until he fought Shogun, hes finished Pulver, Sherk, Florian and Sanchez who not too many ppl had back when he fought them and thats the reason he is considered the best LW ever and hes a small WW and even LW, he should be a 145er but has gone through his whole career winning because of his skill set alone and thats y he will be the prodigy and as for the Diaz thing, Im not delusional Nick beat him easily and what Penn said was stupid n shouldn't have and infact I was hoping Penn would take Cesars offer n join there camp but thats in the past now and now if Penn comes back from retirement I will watch him fight because there arent too many fighters who fight like he does and show the high lvl skill set that he has

He fought Machida in an openweight bout. Penn weighed in at 180lbs, Lyoto at about 220lbs

The fact that diehard BJ fans didn't believe he actually tweeted those comments at first is an indication of how far Penn has lost touch with reality.
