Carlos Condit's team upset with St. Pierre, not the UFC
Posted on October 31, 2011, 09:53 PM by Trent Reinsmith
Following UFC 137, UFC President Dana White made the announcement that Georges St. Pierre was going to fight Nick Diaz and not Carlos Condit when he recovers from the injury that knocked him from the October 29 card.
St. Pierre, according to White, was incensed by Diaz’s actions after Diaz had defeated BJ Penn in the main event of UFC 137. According to White, Condit agreed to step aside so that the St. Pierre versus Diaz fight could take place.
Condit’s manager Malki Kawa appeared on Monday’s edition of the MMA Hour and said, that while the idea that Condit just stepped aside was not true, he and his client were not upset with the UFC, but with St. Pierre. “I could understand them coming to us like that. The issue with the whole 'he decided to step aside,' obviously, that wasn't the case. There was no just stepping aside. There was a little bit more than that. It's going to take more than that. I think we're way more upset with Georges and the way Georges handled it than we are with the way Dana presented it or anything like that." - for more see MMAFighting.com

George definitely doesn't come out of this looking good. He can't really say the he had no choice but to take the fight with Condit then turn around and demand to fight Nick when Nick pisses him off. Although i do agree with Nick being pulled from the fight for his antics GSP wasn't really putting up much of a fight.
With that said I don't care, I wanted to see Nick and Geroges fight anyway.
don't believe this man when have ufc fighters ever gotten to decide who they fight? And im pretty sure george was laughing when diaz called him out. The person behind this is dana white. He paid condit to step aside and set the george vs diaz fight up. This is a smart move on his part because this kind of fight can generate alot of money with the tough bad guy nick vs good guy george. So in the end everybody wins sort of. Except for condit who gets money instead of a shot at the title and glory.
I agree.... If I were Dana i would call Condits manager and tell him to shut the hell up... thee whole camp shouldn't make any comments about that other than "the UFC makes the decisions"....
how can you be mad at they fighter he doesnt decide who fights him
or Chael wouldnt of fought his buddy Stann and BJ and Daiz wouldnt of happened...The UFC says hey we are going to set this fight up and thats that study up..... Carlos got screwed by the UFC....and then said he stepped down and if thats not true how do u blam the other guy...means Condit must of been compensated for his time some how
or they would be pissed at the UFC not GSP if your the Champ who
ever they say fight you fight how can you blame the guy who has no say in the matter...
This is really silly. It's not like Georges runs the UFC. If he is contracted to fight Condit and GSP says to Dana "I'm angry at Diaz" Dana can say "too bad, you're fighting Condit". That didn't happen because Dana wanted GSP / Diaz more than anybody.
You all saw Georges as Diaz was talking. Can you imagine him to be blowing his top? This is all Dana.
Agree 100%. I always defend Dana and consider him very fair, but this is all his doing. All the Diaz fans saying, "it's fair - Condit stepped aside." He didn't just step aside lol he was pushed out and given some sort of pay-off. Bottom line is it's unfair to Condit and it's a bad message to other employees::: act like a d!ck, miss press conferences, call people out, and get to skip the line for a title shot.
how is it unfair? he is still paying him the money he would have expected to get if he fought plus he is giving him another fight thats 2 paydays if i was condit i would be happy to still be getting a fight,
So that is someone else pissed off at GSP now? I feel Condit's pain but at the same time this is the fight business.
Some times it works in your favor, like being able to step into a title shot because someone else screws up. But then it can go the other way too.
There is obviously a big payday out there from a GSP vs Diaz grudge match or Dana wouldn't be doing this.
There must have been some incentive given to Condit to change/ cancel the contract. So what's he going to do, complain about it to the guy signing his check?
Well, Dana announced that Condit was going to fight someone the same card.....so essentially Condit will make some more money out of this whole deal...
Man, Condit probably is angry with Dana and the UFC for pushing him aside, I mean he cried when the opportunity to fight GSP was offered to him and now he's got no opponent, honestly he's probably angry with everyone and I hope he shows that by leaving everything in the cage.
I think condit should of stepped up and took on someone else at ufc 137. instead he wanted to wait. gaurenteed if he would of said give me a fight dana would have delivered, dana white loves to see guys like that. instead condit left his fate in the hands of others.. and others capitalized and got the fight, aka Diaz.
"I think we're way more upset with Georges" = "We are pissed at the UFC but we can't say that because well... we don't want to piss off the UFC"
exactly. Conduit ( A channel for conveying water or other fluid: "a conduit for conveying water to the power plant".
A tube or trough for protecting electric wiring: "the gas pipe should not be close to any electrical conduit".) should know this kind of stuff can go either way, after all, that's how he got a title fight in the first place. At end of the day, the fight the FANS want is Diaz/GSP, and Dana delivered that. the rest is you know.... same ol' same ol'. Condit will get his chance, he's an awesome fighter, still next in line and most likely compensated for all this, so it's not terribly bad. not every situation will play out the same so the "bad impression to other fighters" is not really valid here, IMO.
cause damn, Super Bowl Weekend, lest we forget...
HAHAHAHA don't be a bunch of fvcking tards. you only weak the comment cause you know it's the truth and you don't have any other outlet.
I think this all part of the UFC's marketing machine. They def have taken a page out of Vince Mcmahons play book. Pro wrestlers frequently went from heel to hero. Hulk Hogan, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin are a few examples. I think the process is more gradual in MMA do due the fact that these men actually have to fight and arent running a script. But the animosities that exist between fighters are tweaked and twisted by Zuffa's pr machine in order to put butt's in seats. I'd imagine that the UFC has come to the realization that GSP's golden boy routine has run it's course as far profitability is concerned and they are trying to flip the script a bit. Diaz is now being setup as an anti-hero. He's brash, ill mannered and hot headed, but in reality probably has more in common with a good part of the UFC's fan base than GSP, at least as far perception is concerned. He treats MMA like a job and talks about money like someone who's never had much of it to begin with. Don't know about you folks, but I sure can identify with that. George seems to have pretty deep pockets and speaks of being a "true martial artist" which is a sentiment that is most likely lost on the majority of fight fans. We all saw how Jon Jone's got things flipped on him. He went from amazing young prospect to arrogant champion almost overnight. Rashad went from loud mouthed jerk to the guy who got the shaft at the same time. It's going to be interesting to see how this GSP/Diaz/Condit lover triangle plays out.
I smell a French/Canadian chicken-rat.
i smell a dumb piece of sht, oh, there you are.
Diaz is as good as retired!!!!!
Georges is gonna hurt this kid......mark my words.....
and paul daley didnt hurt him? or penn? or cyborg?. gsp may hurt diaz but diaz wont give a shit, what ever beating gsp will be able to give diaz diaz has alreay taken worse in his career and still won. theres no way gsp will hit diaz harder that paul daley did. the only chance he has is to wrestle and lay on top of diaz and try to nulify his bjj. and if he does do that, he'el get even more critism for being a laynpray artist. this is a lose lose for gsp imo.
Diaz is gonna expose GSP. from what i'm understanding here a lot of you will be heartbroken around valentines day. that's sad....
you're right he's going to Expose gsp. he's going to Expose gsp as being the greatest welterweight Alive. he's going to try and take the fight to gsp and expose the fact that while everyone says gsp is a boring fighter he is actually just the opposite. nick diaz is going to expose the fact that if you talk shit to the best welterweight in the world you better be able to back that shit up
i personally think that gsp will be much faster, and intelligent that nick, and more athletic, pure endurance fine, diaz might win the marathon, but almost any other aspect of athleticism, gsp is way above and beyond... and sorry, but nick landed A TON of 'big shots' on bj, and most of which bj juste ate , the body shots are what did it, so nick diaz isn't gonna get a flash ko a la matt serra... gsp will do what he does to everyone, make em look very bad at twhat they do.
yea, it could turn out that way, sure. why not? or it could be a very different reality from this statement of yours, and then what are you going to do? are you saying this fight is a waste of time, no challenge whatsoever? is that what you are saying? i'm having a hard time figuring out what you are projecting on GSP. while everyone says GSP is a boring fighter, you are just hoping and wishing and cheerleading, and bla bla bla bla. what's the point man. lay n' pray or a fvcking fight- you pick.
ok relax sweetheart, he made bj quit, did bj quit against diaz? he beat the crap out of fitch, he made alves look bad with a torn groin, he made koscheck look like a bum (after koscheck does the same type of strategies on others), he beat jake shields with 1 eye, and almost anyone besides dan hardy taps in eitehr of those spots... or vinny malgahaes, hes nuts... all in all, people bit ch way to much about gsp, if you cant appreciate the way he just shuts down whoever it is ENTIRELY, mma is the wrong sport for you... i personally am sometimes amazed how he doesn't even take a single punch sometimes, yet it never more than 4inches away..... sorry, but thats talent... gsp can swing for the fences too and get ko's , but he's a better fighter than that, and people just dont realize it.
Condits making bbank off of this forsure if not he's a moron
