Carlos Condit open to Ellenberger fight, but prefers to wait for "Michael Jordan of MMA" GSP

Condit admits that he's open to fighting Jake Ellenberger if the UFC insists, but says he prefers to wait for "the Michael Jordan of MMA" Georges St. Pierre.
"I would like to fight Georges St. Pierre. He is the Michael Jordan of MMA. An opportunity to fight Georges St. Pierre could come up once in a lifetime. Not only is he the UFC Welterweight Champion, but I've been waiting to fight him for months. I was supposed to fight him last October and that fell through, and I'm just itching to fight Georges. I am (okay with waiting). I'm at a great camp, I have pretty realistic sparring every day, so it's not like I'm gathering ring-rust."

I respect his decision, but i feel like we've seen in the past that waiting never showed great results. GSP might be back later than what he thinks, Carlos might injure himself, then ring rust is gonna start to kick in, etc... lots of not so good scenarios are possible. Plus if he decides to wait, we're gonna find ourselves with a WW division with an injured Welterweight champ and a non active Welterweight interim champ.
Ring Rust, what about George's ring rust,
Georges ring rust,.....ewww dirty boy.
i do not support this frauds career
Ex WEC champ. 28-5 13 ko's, 13 sub's, 2 dec. Fraud? The only fraud is you claiming to be an mma fan.

I can see that the UFC is trying hard to get rid of him, as he does not talk smack (in Dana's language: does not know how to sell fights). But like it or not he did beat Diaz, so he is next in line for GSP. He does not have to and he should not fight anybody else in the meantime. This was the deal, UFC, so respect it.
True and he wont be there long, running from GSP wont work.
Nick is still the more exciting prospect for GSP IMO
Micheal Jordan of MMA Lls so what is Silva???? GSP is more like Tim Duncan effective but ultimately his style is canada dry.. lacks flair flash fun.. of course it gets the job done but lets not pretend it isnt booooring as fck.... carlos might as well wait & get more $$ for keeping GSP's belt warm

Condit has been jerked around this past year through no fault of his own. He fought his way up to the top of the hill. He took any fight Dana gave him. He backed off a promised title shot because Nick Diaz whined like a bitch to GSP, and pissed him off.
The UFC, GSP, and Diaz have all contributed to screwing up his life last year.
Why should Condit fight Ellenberger, a man he has already beaten? For a meagre paycheck--he should risk his dream of fighting GSP for the title?
GSP will heal and be ready to fight in October or November--so he has to wait half of a year--big deal. Condit has to look out for his family and his career, and right now, he as a sure title shot and a big payday in 7 or 8 months.
