Cain Velasquez happy with title defense on FOX, plans to make it a "whole MMA fight"

"I'm happy that they chose our fight. It's perfect timing. I want everybody on Fox to see my fighting style, to really become a fan of the sport...They took care of (the loss of pay-per-view revenue). They're telling us we're going to make so much out of it. It's all working out, so we're happy.
Dos Santos is a really good boxer, so knowing where to put my hands the whole time. Keeping them up the whole time as I throw. Not doing anything sloppy, because when you do that with a guy like him, he's so good, he's going to capitalize on you. He has good takedown defense, but he doesn't like to be on the ground. That's definitely one of my strong points - I think we need to just make this a whole MMA fight. Make this punches, kicks, wrestling, takedowns, everything." - For complete interview with Cain Velasquez, visit USAToday.com
UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez appears more than happy to lead the promotion's charge into the world of network television. After weeks of speculation and rumor, UFC President Dana White announced yesterday that the champ would make his first title defense against heavy-handed Brazilian Junior dos Santos as the headliner for the UFC's November 12th debut on FOX.
In the time since dethroning Brock Lesnar to lay claim to the belt, Velasquez has sat idle with a shoulder injury that will have kept him out of action for more than a year by fight night, while dos Santos, meanwhile, comes in fresh off his destruction of Shane Carwin back in June. Though White admitted that he's putting all of his proverbial eggs in one basket, he insists that neither fighter has ever failed to put on a show inside the octagon. So what's the word LowKick'ers? Was the Heavyweight title clash the right selection for the UFC's network debut? And more importantly, will it, in fact, deliver the goods on November 12th?

He should be happy with it, win or lose this is going to make him one of the most recongisible MMA fighters worldwide
Bruce Buffer: "And the newwwwww UFC Heavyweight champion of the world, Junior "Cigano" Dos Santos."
JDS via TKO - round 2
honestly i wish i could agree with you, but i think cains wrestling is going to be to much for him
dos santos has crisper boxing (for the most part) for sure, however, lets not forget that cain on sports science hits 2x harder than james toney, and about 300lbs more force and most people kicks... so, if he puts junior down, and lands some gnp, (or maybe shocks us all like he did when he fought nogueira and had FAST hands in that fight) but eitehr way, cain brings a lot more to this fight in my opinion.. we also know he can take a shot (which junior can as well) .. should be fcking amazing, cant believe some people complained bout this announcement
Georges Safe-Pierre hit harder than Rampage on sports science as well.
Cain has better kickboxing while JDS has crisper boxing. I think Cain will edge this one out. This fight is going to the championship rounds, both are really tough
Nah Cain is a monster that never stops. I don't see anybody beating him yet. But JDS has a shot no doubt. Cant wait great fight.
This is a tough one. I have JDS winning by TKO, but Cain could win just as easily. However, the thing that tipped the scale for me was that I've seen Cain rocked by big shots (the Kongo fight), while JDS took Big Country's haymakers like they were nothing.
Both are great fighters and I'm a fan of both, but I think JDS is gonna take this one.
He wasn't such a monster against Congo he didn't seem like he could do anything but take Congo down. I remember after that fight thinking this guy will not be a champion but now look. He seems like a different fighter altogether since that fight.
Bruce Buffer: "And still the UFC Heavyweight Champion of the world, Cain Velasquez."
Velasquez via TKO - round 1
JNR will outbox Cain .
JuNioR.
JNR.
Not hard to figure out, or worth calling someone a fool over even if they were wrong... like you are.
Cain is going to smash him anyway. I'd put money on it.
Junior is abbreviated as Jr.
JDS by anyways he wants it. I would bet your money on it too.
I know it's usually Jr, my point was it's obvious what he meant and there's no need to be an a-hole about it and name call, it's pathetic.
This place is full of them these days though, so what can you do.
Either man can win. They are both top shelf fighters. We know Jr. has the hands and Cain has the wrestling, but both are well rounded. Very much looking forward to this. I would give the cardio edge to Cain. He's a smaller man with less mass to move around and he has that wrestler's training mentality. But we know Jr. has the hands to end this bout real quick like. Should be good.
The level at which my DOS SANTOS like to sit in the pocket and trade makes me uneasy. He is one of my favorite, but I hated seeing him rocked by punches that should have never landed (had he not been as aggressive in willing to continue to exchange), I hope giving the other fighter equal chances to stand and trade doesn't catch up to him in this fight.... any fighter willing to stand in the pocket takes more risks then needed, unless they have to mentality to step back in heat.
I personally can't recall what Cains chin is like, Dos Santos can take some.
Also Dos Santos has super take down defense... Fox will be amazing..
Cains a great fighter, but damn he has such a boring personality
cain is gonna be the champ for a long long time he will get jds down and wear him out and then finish him by tko or let him up when he's tired and finish him
This is a tough fight to call, but in the end I see Dos Santos picking apart Velazquez at range with precise boxing and raining down power shots as the later rounds come like in the fight against Carwin. But Cains' wrestling is a deal breaker and could be an issue if JDS cannot stop the takedowns.
I have read that JDS is among the best at BJJ at black house he just never needs to use it, that could be his ticket to winning this but I am looking forward to one of the absolute best heavyweight fights in mma history and easily the best UFC heavyweight fight of all time.
no matrher what outcome its gonna be a great fight.... dont seeing it go for 5 rounds...
Cain wins by Ground and Pound. And a few slams.
People tend to forget that JDS trains in the Black House gym along with the Nogs brother. Just because his hands is good doesn't mean he can't handle himself on the ground. Everyone says the same thing with A. Silva, because his hand is so good you only need to take him down...
Do not get blind on anything. Be it standing or on his back JDS is no push-over. JDS has a solid ground game, it's just that no one has able to push him to use it.
I dont blame him for not making this a stand up fight.Dos Santos is a absolute monster on his feet.ONLY way I see Cain beating him is by wrestling. If he cant hold him on the ground he is in trouble.
I hope that, considering Brazilians usually help train other Brazilians, Anderson Silva will be helping Dos Santos exclusively to prepare for his fight. If so i can see him out classing Velasquez, and keeping at a higher pace.
