The number one contender bout between former Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos is now official for UFC 131 in June.

The match-up, confirmed on today's edition of "The Ultimate Insider" on UFC.com, will determine which of the TUF 13 coaches will challenge current Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez, in what will be the champ's first title defense.

In his latest effort, Lesnar (5-2) suffered his second career loss when he was dethroned by Velasquez in October.  The former WWE superstar first captured the title by defeating MMA veteran Randy Couture at UFC 91 and followed up with two successful title defenses, including victories over Frank Mir and Shane Carwin.  Lesnar will undoubtedly need a win against the Brazilian in order to keep his title hopes alive.

Dos Santos (12-1), meanwhile, last competed at UFC 117, where he defeated Roy Nelson via unanious decision.  The victory initially put him in line to be Velasquez's first title defense, however the fight was canceled due to injury.  Instead of waiting for the champ to recover, Dos Santos opted to take the coaching position on TUF 13 and subsequently risk his title shot.

UFC 131 will take place June 11th from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  Lesnar vs. Dos Santos will headline the stacked card, while the co-main event is expected to feature top Heavyweight contender Shane Carwin against a yet to be named opponent.

Santos dominated k1 level striker-cro cop in the stand up and ktfo jiu jitsu expert - werdum, i cant see brock jumps in that level of striking in a few monts but yes he have a chance if he gets the fight to the ground quickly as posible because this kid is going to ruin hes precious face in few seconds.

If he takes JDS down, he needs to keep him on the ground, but JDS is big and strong enough and has BJJ to escape it. Nelson is the real fighter, he is not afraid to get knockout and Nelson is shorter than JDS and keeps his head down, so for JDS could not get his chin.

WTF man? "JDS could not get his chin."

This dont make any sense. So you say that taller fighters cant KO shorter fighters?

Im 175cm tall, so I if I would fight in LHW I would not get KO´d?

GTFO from this site with those dumpass comments.

Before calling somebody a dumpass, use your small brain occassionally.

I was not talking about a general idea about being tall or short. I was talking about this specific case. Watch this fight again. Nelson is shorter than JDS, he used it in his advantage, since he could put his head down to avoid getting hit in the chin clearly. Clearly!!! Nelson is strong enough to take punches in his front head

You did not create this site to tell me to GTFO!

This will either make or break Brock if he losses again then I think Brock might call it a day in his MMA career. But if JDS losses then he might end up fighting the winner of Carwin Vs whoever the challenger is.

Dos Santos. He should pull this one off, he hits hard, fast, motivated. He trains with Big Nog and AS, his BJJ should be good to handle Brock's ground game. He is big enough not to get taken down and kept on the ground.

I think Lesnar's fight with JDS is going to be a replay of his fight with Cain and with the same (basic) outcome. Until I see Brock doing something other than wrestling, pushing weight and doing cardio, I will have no faith that he can deal with a serious striker; one that is not intimidated by him and JDS is not intimidated by Lesnar; at least that is the impression he leaves me with.

Of all the video I have seen on Brock, he's always doing the same things, however, as a general rule (at least) I never see him in a cage getting pounded on stand-up style; where he's required to take it and fight back, without being able to always go running back to his wrestling or physical size. He needs to dramatically improve this side of his game. As a straight up, stand-up fighter, no one in the HW division, is afraid of Brock; in a K-1 fight with anyone in that division he loses; badly. Example - Mir would kill Lesnar in a kickboxing fight.

Lesnar needs to evolve. Cain demonstrated that clearly and I think JDS is going to continue the lesson.

I think, it is not only improving striking, but also psycological aspect here is a problem. He is just afraid of taking punishment. He pulled one off with Carwin because Carwin did not hit him clearly, but Cain was not Carwin, he was punishing him with clear strikes.

Brock will need to get it to the ground if he expects to win.
