Brock Lesnar: I don't think there's a Heavyweight that has done what I've done in the UFC
Posted on December 27, 2011, 07:28 PM by Trent ReinsmithBrock Lesnar is set to return to the Octagon on Friday when he welcomes Alistair Overeem to the UFC in the main event at UFC 141. The fight will be Lesnar’s first since losing the UFC Heavyweight crown to Cain Velasquez back in October 2010.
Since losing the title, Lesnar underwent a tough stretch; being forced to withdraw from a scheduled fight against Junior dos Santos after suffering a second bout of diverticulitis. Now fully recovered from the surgery that removed a section of his colon Lesnar will look for a win over Overeem to launch him on the road back to the UFC title.
MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani caught up with Lesnar before he was to face Overeem. Some of the topics that they discussed inluded Lesnar's illness, his familiarity with Leanr, his career to date and very briefly, what it means to be an underdog.

I kinda agree...I dont think there is a single HW in the world who fought tougher competition than Brock in there first 6-7 fights, this guy came to the UFC with a 1-0 record n then fought Mir (2), Herrering, Couture, Carwin, Cain and now Reem for that he will always have my respect as a fighter no matter what happens to him in the future
This is going to be perhaps the most manly fight of all time, Brock Lesnar spends his free time killing things and and to quote Joe Rogan, "Alistair Overeem is genetically engineered to f*** your girlfriend"

He is right...there's not really a single other fighter who's done that is there? As well as come back from near death to have an amazing comeback against a guy who was then undefeated and seen as invincible

I have to disagree with Brock, him and Herring both turtle up when getting hammered.
He's a man of contrasts having done some silly, illegal and obnoxious things and in a short time and at a high level has done some amazing things.
It remains to be seen which way he will go on Friday.

Wrong...what about JDS...he came in to KO Werdum in his first fith - then decisive on a row wins over - Struve,Cro Cop, Yvel, Gonzaga, Nelson, Carwin and Cain for the Title.....stop that stupid hype...no road of a HW was harder and he is not doing fu**ing cart wheels.

Junior was 6-1 upon entering the UFC, Brock was 1-0. Furthermore, unlike Brock, none of Junior's first six opponents were current, or former, UFC title holders. All of Brock's were, with the exception of Heath Herring.
yea but Cain and Carwin JDS both beat, cant say that about Brock and he was given the instant shot. Its clear JDS has fought just as hard comp and had a longer road to get there. So MMAMachine you might want to duck.

very sharp and true statement. fact is before brock, the hw devision was shallow, like randy couture said, there was no heart in it, he could take the belt, and he did. then along comes money machine brock that was GIVEN the title basically, 1 win 1 loss, then you get a title shot against a guy 60 pounds lighter . thats not a "real" accomplishment as far as i am concerned. the 1 title defense against carwin was a bit impressive, surviving the first round at least, but if carwin had not gassed, brock would have been dead meat 2 min in the second.

As a professional fighter, cardiovascular training is as, if not more, important than training your striking. What you've just said is as equally as stupid as saying X-Fighter wouldn't have gotten knocked out if his opponent hadn't thrown that right hook in the second round.
If your going to trash everyone, and imply your a professional fighter, show the proof or be labeled as just another blow hard wannabe know it all.
When I said, "As a professional fighter," it was in reply to another user's comment about Carwin. Therefore, I was clearly indicating that Carwin, not myself, is a professional fighter.

you are correct in that assessment to a degree. carwin did drop a lot of weight, maybe that had to do something with it, sure he gassed, his fault, but that dont change the fact brock had nothing on him until then, and it certainly does not change the fact that brock did not EARN a title shot, nor has he done anything significant , above and beyond all other heavy weights, just looked a little better because A...it was given to him, and B...the heavy weight division was trash before Randy took over , and Brock beat him.

Its definitely true that Brock has done some remarkable things... But JDS could probably dismantle Brock, which is why he deserves the title... Brock rode in on his fame of WWE and just wrestled everyone... Until they realized that putting him with Cain, a wrestler with better striking could beat him. Then along comes JDS, a striker with takedown defense, who throws the whole division off. What's the surprise?

Shane Carwin, JDS, and Cain have all accomplished more in the UFC than Brock. if either of those was "given" a title shot after 2 pro fights, against Randy Coture, they would have gotten the title that soon too.
