Rising Heavyweight prospect Brendan "The Hybrid" Schaub will get his requested shot at PRIDE veteran Antontio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 134: Rio.

UFC officials confirmed the match-up on Monday.

Its a bout that Schaub (8-1) has lobbied for since knocking out Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic at UFC 128 in March.  The TUF 10 finalist will look to continue building on his current four-fight win streak, which includes previous victories over Gabriel Gonzaga, Chris Tuchscherer, and Chase Gormley.  A member of Denver's Grudge Training Center, Schaub's only career loss came via first-round stoppage against Roy Nelson in The Ultimate Fighter 10 finale.

Nogueira (32-6-1) will return to action for the first time since being defeated by now-Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez in February of 2010.  Since opening his UFC stint with consecutive wins over Tim Sylvia and Heath Herring, the former PRIDE champ has dropped two of his last three outings, including a TKO loss to Frank Mir, who he was scheduled to face in a rematch at UFC 119 before being forced to withdraw due to nagging injuries.

UFC 134: Rio is set to take place August 27th from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  The landmark card will be headlined by a Middleweight title clash between division Champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva and challenger Yushin "Thunder" Okami and will mark the promotion's first trip back to Brazil since 1998.

Finally we get to see Minotauro in the cage again!!!!

I like this fight but It might not get co-main event status, for this major event I don't know if they will give Schaub the co-main, I think Shogun fight will probably get it.

Shogun fight will definitely, no doubt about it, for sure be co headliner. And we havent seen Big Nog in a while, age caught up to him already/all the blunt trauma to his brain so I think its gonna be another KO win for Schaub. I want Schaub to be served some humble pie though, so I will be rooting for Big Nog

This card is really beginning to shape up, I'm wondering what other big name Brazilians they could put on the card, any ideas?

I'm glad to hear Big Nog will be back in action finally, but this is not the type of fight I wanted him to have! Schaub will put Nog away, unfortunately probably into retirement.

Schaub definitely has the power to KO Nog, but he also has possibly the best ground game in the heavyweight division. If this fight goes to the ground he could easily tap Schaub. I like Nog to get the submission here.

It was bad to see Schaub take out Cro Cop, don't want to see the same happen to Minotauro (people in Rio would feel the same). I hope Minotauro finds the way to beat Schaub

I like Schaub, seems like a decent enough guy and typically comes to fight. But I hope Big Nog subs or knocks him out, Nog is on his last legs but would be nice to see him get a win infront of the Brazilian fans

Wishful thinking, I really don't want to see a legend get hurt.

Sadly yes, I don't think those around him would want him to retire just yet.

Yes, I understand most of the language. Brazilians have a thick accent but even in portuguese, I am having trouble understanding what Nogueira is saying. There's been interviews in the past where he lost his train of thought and gone onto completely different topics.

Really? Wow, I haven't really heard Murilo speak in awhile but it's very possible. The guy has taken a lot of beatings. I wouldn't be surprised if he were at that stage in his career/life.

yeah it is worrying, not only has he slowed down, he also is harder to understand when he speaks.

If you compare his interview/fights from PRIDE to how he is at the present, there's a big noticeable difference.

Lol, I don't agree. In fact, I can't really understand how someone can say that such a nice guy has an attitude that "sucks."

Schaub seems like an alright guy to me. He deserves to fight a guy like Nog at this point. And I thought it was his management lobbying for the fight. Not Schaub himself.

Immediately following his win over Cro Cop he did an interview that same night stating that he would like to fight Nog in Brazil. I'm sure his management pushed for the fight on his behalf as well tho.

Oh I see. Appreciate it. Well I still hope Schaub wins because I don't think Big Nog will ever crack that top 5 again. Schaub seems to have a lot of potential.

Oh, I definitely agree with you. I don't think him challenging Nog is a bad thing. He seems like a nice dude to me.

Finally Nog back in the cage.. he might be old yes and not as sharp as he used to be.. but a loss to a machine in his young prime like velasquez isnt anything to be ashamed of.. look what he did and will do to the heavyweights lol... Hes still sharp as a (something really sharp) I say Schuab finds this fight a little to much to handle and he gets surprised with a tko

I think it's cool if a fighter has earned a name or has a really good reason to have one. Maybe someone can explain what makes Brendan "The Hybrid" Schaub.

I think that if Nog can recovery from this surgery properly he will be an alot more effective fighter than we have seen since hes entered the ufc, according to him these hip problems have been causing him alot of trouble with movement on the ground and on the feet, hopefully he can get past Shaub, then see him fight Mir again. Everyone so quick to discredit him after his loss to Cain, but we all know that Cain is a beast and the undisputed best hw in the world, WAR Nog, how couldn't you like the guy?

Getting a little sick of Schaub's "I can beat any HW" attitude. He needs to be knocked down a peg or two. I hope Nog submits his c*cky ass.
