UFC 120 main event is starting to fall together. MMAjunkie reports that Michael Bisping is likely to square off against the always dangerous Judo practitioner Yoshihiro Akiyama in what will most likely be the cards main event on October 16 in the O2 arena which will be a Spike TV broadcast.

According to a source close to this event one fighters name is already signed for the main event, and they are expecting the other party to sign in the near future.

Bisping  (19-3)  has rebounded from his UFC 100 KO loss to Dan Henderson, with a TKO win over Denis Kang at UFC 105.  Following that bout Bisping went on to lose a decision to Wanderlei Silva, at UFC  114 he won a decision over Dan Miller.  Now looking to really turn things up and climb back up the Middleweight ladder, he will look to take on the Asian superstar Yoshihiro Akiyama.  This will be Bisping’s 6th fight for the UFC on Brittish soil.

Akiyama (13-2) has gone 1-1 in the UFC since his debut at UFC 100 when he won a decision against Alan Belcher.  Akiyama sat out for almost a year for an opportunity to fight the Axe Murder Wanderlei Silva which was set for UFC 116; unfortunately Wanderlei had to pull out of the fight just weeks prior due to rib injuries.  The south paw Chris Leben stepped up on 2 weeks rest to fill the spot.  Handing Akiyama his first loss in the UFC via triangle choke late in the third round.

Both fighters will be looking for a win to get back on track in the middleweight division, If Bisping wins it can set up a rematch with the Crippler Chris Leben.  If Akiyama wins no doubt he will look to get at a healthy Wanderlei.

Also to serve as the co main event will be a Welterweight matchup between former WEC champ Carlos Condit vs. Dan the Outlaw Hardy.

The only thing Akiyama should be fighting for awhile is a treadmill.

Hopefully he can get his cardio up, then he can be a real threat in the MW division.

this is a shit headliner. its starting to piss me off how below par the ufc cards in the UK are, the 105 card was crap. its always a good night and i'll probably still go but they could give us a better headliner than this. at least a couple of contenders neither bisping or akiyama are really near a title shot. how are they headline material?

I completely agree. I see this stylistically a good matchup for bisping as dana would have it no other way when he fights in his home country. I hope akiyama defeats him quickly and decisively. They always give him easier(not easy) fights when he is in england. Of course they will not let him fight belfort at home because it would be a signed sealed and delivered upset for the english fans. He may fight him in america one day but not at home.

Two guys coming off of losses that aren't really in title contention are main event for 120?

    What's the logic on this?

Leben beat Akiyama, Bisping beat (out pointed) Leben, so.....Bisping should be able to beat Akiyama?

I hope sexy embarasses him and that Bisping is out of the UFC; he's boring to watch.

I'll take sexy, in this one.

Really a horrible card. Will probably still go though because it doesn't come to the UK often.
