These bold words came from UFC new comer James "Lightsout" Toney. To the ill informed James Toney is a 5"9 41(42 come fight night) year old Professional Boxer. Toney has a combined boxing record of 72-6-3, 44 of those wins comming via knockout. earning him the so very "clever" nick name lights out. He has been champion in almost 4 diffrent weight classes including Middle Weight , Super Middle Weight, Cruiser Weight, and even HeavyWeight (but unfortuantly he tested positive for Anabolic Steroids and the win was ruled a NC). The fact of the matter is James Toney won his last boxing fight by KO and this was as recent as 2009, so hes not completely irrelevant. To us MMA fans his boxing achievements have been overshadowed by his bold statements.
Randy "The Natural" Couture needs no introduction, two time UFC LHW champion, Three time UFC HW Champion, and the Oldest man to carry & defend the UFC HW title. He is the most experianced fighter in the octagon and his accomplishments are almost as unbelieveable as they are spectacular.
And yet he is fighting a guy with a record of 0-0. As ridiculous as that sounds Im excited for this fight. Its going to be interesting to see how Toney deals with the experiance and wrestling of Couture. with that being said James Toney always has the punchers chance, however slim it may be. we all remember serra and st.pierre, scott smith and cung lee, and countless other times where all you need is that sweet right hand to take home the Win.. but then agian we remember the Roy Nelson and Kimbo Slice fight, where a guy with no MMA experianced lost that punchers chance the minute he hit the canvas. all and all who wouldnt be excited for this fight, this where MMA is supposed to shine! yet agian....We all know things dont always go according to plan

I just get the feeling that this fight won't be exciting as the build up. Randy is going to smother him.
He is not almost a 4 division world champ... he is a 6 division world champ. He has been champ in every weight division he has ever fought in and he is current IBA Heavyweight Champ. I don't get it, even the guys promoting this fight are trying to discredit Toney by saying he is a 3 division world champ when he is a 6 division world champ. Stop trying to discredit him and tell the truth. 6 division world champ.

Thanks for the history lesson. Unfortunately none of it will matter when he steps into the cage with Couture.
