Jose Aldo out of UFC 125
Posted on November 23, 2010, 05:23 PM by Daniel CassidyThe most exciting (and first) card of the year, UFC 125 has suffered a major blow, with (WEC) UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo pulling out of the co-main event.
According to Heavy MMA, the Top 5 Pound for Pound fighter was having problems with his neck:
-"A compacted vertebrae was causing tingling in Aldo’s arms." according to the site.

I was really looking forward to this fight but still there is the Gomi fight and the Nate fight and maybe now Vera vs Silva will be bumped up to the main event
i think the card is so frickin stacked that this wont take much away from it...obviously id love to see aldo in action but unless im mistaken then both vera silva and davis stephens are both on the undercard, both potential wars that could easily be main card fights
ninja... yes this is really bad, Aldo was the main draw for this card, thinking that Edgar vs Laynard is going to sell out an arena is about as optimistic as hanging onto Jim Morrison's mail. howver the rest of the card 'should' make up for it......
holy s**t mike browns on the card too!! id say the boys in the lab are gettin sick of having to constantly change the damn poster though
i was thinking about that the other day, if you compare 124 with 125 man 125 is stacked, great exiting fighters, maybe when he gets better he can make other card more exiting
Grispi is probably the only one stoked on this... lol well that sux
April fools?
unfortuneatly not. was really looking forward to seeing him fight too! he's my p4p number 1!
well dam there goes the card
Yeah 1st Carwin and now Aldo. This card is going to get like no buys
well this sucks...i wonder what fight will replace this
Roy Nelson vs Undertaker...Too Much To Bury!
This is bullshit! Hope Aldo gets better soon. UFC125 should still be good but it wont be the same without Aldo vs Grispi
I was reading somewhere that the injury Aldo has takes about a month to recover so maybe he'll be able to fight in the superbowl card or the Australia card or the Abu Dhabi card
Thanks for the update Ariel Helwani
@bigalriz man what is your problem? u just joined here and u act like a nob.
thank you ninja. i do hope he is back soon. cant wait to see this badass fight
rflynn.....he's probably mad at society, look at his profile picture..... wouldnt you be angry if you looked like that
@nunchaku yeah i would be too. poor fella :P
your right Fedor
i dont know about a month a compacted vertabrae can sometimes require surgery and if anything else he wont be able to train for a couple months
I just sh!t a squerrel.
haha great Fn movie
Sucks. I hope his neck is ok. Fusion = career death if he ends up needing it. Hopefully they can just grow him some new cartilage. They can do it for RA patients.
He's becoming the Floyd Mayweather of MMA.
Pretty disappointed, but hey it is mma and fighters get injured.
F*#K
:'(
That is all
That is the least serious sounding injury I've ever heard anyone pulling out from :P
But a compacted vertebrae can become far more serious if it worsens, and why risk that fighting? Anyone who has ever had a nerve problem knows of the pain/loss of function it can cause, and risking worsening it would be foolish.
Just checked out UFC 125's wiki page and it now says this is the co-main event: Trophy Bonce Jonce vs. Samuel Turbitt... 2 uknowns so i doubt this really is gonna be on the main card, i personally would put Silva vs Vera on main card... seeing as Silva was the main event in his last bout and Vera did get destroyed by Jones but the guy still has fought all top notch opponents in the past (Sylvia, Mir etc.)
And even Brown vs Nunes and Davis vs Stephens are good fights for the main card. :D
****, compacted vertebrae. That sucks.
sweet two of the belts are now held by injured fighters....
Why Why Why
I was so looking forward to this *facepalm*
This sucks but better safe than sorry. Aldo has plenty of highlight reel time left in his career so hopefully this problem won't be too dangerous for him. I pray for a speedy recovery for him and a great fight when he is ready, willing and able to enter the octagon again.
2 words sum that up..."That sucks"
Grispi will now face Dustin Poirier 8-1 all wins by stoppage and he is just 21
