MMA is my favorite "sport" and Toney is cool in my books. You owe him ZERO along with any other MMA fighter, but you are still gaining a great fight by him stepping into the cage!
You make good points, as did BJ. I hadn't really thought about the Toney fight, in the manner that Penn put it; he's built a lot of hype about this fight and subsequently the brand and the sport, in general; good for him; good for us. Win or lose, I bet it's entertaining and I hope, not Toney's only fight in the UFC. For Toney, winning or losing one fight in the UFC, will prove (exactly) 0.
I'm glad he's here and I'm looking forward to the collision at the center of the Octagon, come Saturday night.
lol this is to alll the BJ penn haters. he admitted he lost and hes ready to get back in there. i cant wait to see him man bjs a great a guy and a great fighter
I've always respected Penn and his talents, but not necessarily his attitude and ego. This is the most impressed I've ever been with BJ. He seems more mature and to be in a good "head space", leading into the fight.
In this interview, BJ was humble, honest, jovial, self-effacing, friendly, conciliatory and even kind, in his words about Frankie Edgar. Of particular note, was the way he handled questions about the loss and moving up; he gave no excuses and he did no trash talking and it was refreshing to hear him allude to fighters (@ 170) other then "champ".
"Don't we all think that?" No "we" do not. His camp knew Edgar had outpointed Penn before the decision was rendered, as did I... With that in mind, of course they were ecstatic!
Forgive me, I didn't now that there were "worthy" champs. I thought there were "worthy" opponets to fight the champ! Best believe if I fought the "champ" and won I would be walking around like the "champ" or in your case a "worthy champ"

Learning=Maturing

BJ Penn By sub.
hope bj get this one, edgar is a lame champ
edgar is not even a champ, your a REAL champ once u defend your belt
Well, If a fighter can defend the belt once then he gets to keep it. All the same if he wins the belt hes still the Champ until someone beats him.
Not a real champ? He beat BJ, the CHAMP! So if Carwin beat Lesnar he wouldn't have been a CHAMP ethier? or Chael? Geez, great reasoning!
so he is a real Champ Now!!
nope, gotta defend your belt at least once to prove your a WORTHY champ... come on we all know that
Forgive me, I didn't now that there were "worthy" champs. I thought there were "worthy" opponets to fight the champ! Best believe if I fought the "champ" and won I would be walking around like the "champ" or in your case a "worthy champ"
Who is we? Thats just something fallen champs say : )
Who is we???
Nevermind Joey you wre refering to "kevinowns" statement.
He has the Belt...he is the champ! Thats absurd to say your only champ if you defend the belt.
If that was so, they would just hold onto the belt until you defended it.
He is the champ, but he will need to defend this in order for me and many to really get the idea through our heads.
