He shouldn't underestimate any opponent he is not invincible. Anyone can be beaten. So it is good he doesn't underestimate them.

Record-wise, Penn has five defeats - more than any current UFC Champion.

Ya, penn is a beast only time he basically losses is when he goes up a class, i think he will easily take care of frankie and gomi will beat florian so we can see the rematch between gomi and penn

lyoto machida, gsp(2x), matt hughes......he lost to opponents that were way heavier and bigger than he was.....he had no cardio at the time also....i think bj penn is the most talented fighter in all of mma....tell me one time in bj penns career where he didnt fight the top guy at the time......bj penn is fearless, he moved all the way up to fight lyoto machida.....

thats a fair point antong, but as fair as champions go, he's also as it stands the second longest reigning current UFC champ, and hasnt lost a fight at lightweight since 2002, his only losses are to gsp(x2) matt hughes, jens pulver, and lyoto machida. i think personally bj has more of a case as a top pound for pounder, but if he had a win over gsp then it would be impossible to argue against
