MMA Veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will look to move up in the ranks of the UFC Light Heavyweight division against the underdog Jason Brilz. Little Nog is regarded as one of the Top Light Heavyweights, holding an impressive MMA record of 18-3, with a notable victories over Guy Mezger, Kazushki Sakuraba, Alistair Overeem, Dan Henderson, Vladimir Matyushenko and Luiz "Banha" Cane (in his UFC debut).

18-2 Jason Brilz replaced the injured Forrest Griffin for this fight, considered as a heavy underdog against Nogueira. Despite going to decision in his last three fights, Jason Brilz is known for his impressive knockout and submission skills. "The Hitman" has five knockouts and nine submissions to his record, a statistics that should prevent from Minotoro to underestimate his opponent.

Nogueira is a huge favorite on LowPick, with 95% of the votes. 77% of the fans predict a TKO victory for the Pride veteran, as 55% of them expect the fight to end in the very First Round. A victory by Jason Brilz will provide the biggest upset we've seen this year in Mixed Martial Arts, something that could bring the career of the North Dakota-native to another level.

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira def. Jason Brilz
via Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)
Round 1: First round is underway, with Rogerio Nogueira keeping his distance from Brilz. The Brazilian is trying some low kicks here, looking to study his opponent before going toe-to-toe. Nogueira connects with a big knee, but Brilz is still solid. Jason Brilz tries a takedown here, but Nogueira easily defends that attempt. Another takedown by Brilz, and now he gets a single-leg takedown. Rogerio Nogueira is looking to work his Jiu-Jitsu here against Brilz. Nogueira tries to get up, but Brilz shows a good control here by defending his position. Jason Brilz looses his position here, and now Rogerio Nogueira has his back, but they quickly return to stand up. Brilz' gameplan is taking this fight to the ground, but Nogueira is successful by sprawling the majority of his attempts. The first round ends. I would expect Rogerio Nogueira to be more active in this fight. 10-9 Brilz.
Round 2: Rogerio Nogueira continues to approach Brilz with patience. Brilz is shooting for the takedown, but immediately finds himself in Rogerio Nogueira's guillotine choke.... it looks tight, but Jason Brilz manages to survive. Brilz is working his ground game and responds with Guillotine of his own! Wow! It looks tight, and Yves Lavigne is very close from stopping this fight! Nogueira signals the referee that he's okay, but his face is purple here! Jason Brilz continues to apply pressure, but Little Nog survives. Another guillotine attempt by Brilz, but Nogueira easily defends this attempt. They finally stand up, looking exhausted from the grappling war they had a few seconds ago. What a surprising performance by Jason Brilz, he is looking great and in a full control of this fight. Fantastic combo by Jason Brilz! Nogueira is not looking troubled, but the judges will clearly take note on this one. Another combo by Brilz! He is in a driving seat here. Serious knee by Nogueira... Striking war!!! Brilz responds with a combo and Nogueira looks stunned! WOW! Nogueira is wobbling here, as the Second Round ends. 10-9 Brilz!
Round 3: Final third round begins. Little Nog has to do something special here to win this fight. Brilz follows his gameplan and shoots for the takedown. He finds himself in Guillotine for another time, but manages to defend. Little Nogueira sweeps and begins to work his Ground and Pound. Brilz defends well, as the fighters stand up. Jason Brilz is looking slightly exhausted here in the third round. Minotoro is controling this fight right now, Jason Brilz lost his air here and desperately looking for the takedown. Little Nog has his back now, looking for the arm triangle. He lets it go and prefers to stand with Brilz. Nogueira continues to push the pace here, but Jason Brilz gets another single leg. Crucifix by Nogueira, but Jason Brilz manages to escape. Wow! Nogueira works his ground and pound, as the final third round ends. Jason Brilz has really impressed me in this fight! Tremendous show of heart! I have the third round for Minotoro Nogueira, as this fight could go either way.... Antonio Rogerio Nogueira wins a split decision! The crowd is booing the Brazilian veteran! Jason Brilz deserved a victory, but you never leave it to the judges. Little Nog will need to prove his point in another fight before he gets a title shot.

Has anyone ever noticed that Ed Soares fighters tend to win bad decisions? Is this a coincidence?

Some people will always vote for Nog because he's from Pride. Without knowing anything about the opponent.

yea lil nog looked slow he was dropping his hands and getting tagged. Griffins ju jitsu is really good he probably wouldnt get submitted if he ever got taken down. Forrest would take the decision and shoot up to title contension

That's what Brilz gets for smiling and laughing at Nogueira during the fight. Disrespect deserves no victory.
