Andre Winner vs. Anthony Njokuani on tap for UFC 132 in July
Posted on April 14, 2011, 10:45 PM by Joey SantosusThe UFC 132 line-up continues to take shape with the addition of a Lightweight bout between Andre Winner and Anthony Njokuani.
UFC officials announced the match-up on Thursday, confirming that verbal agreements are in place.
The Ultimate Fighter 9 runner-up, Andre Winner (11-5-1), will be looking to rebound from back-to-back losses suffered over the course of 2010. After winning two of his first three with the promotion, Wnner was outpointed by Nik Lentz last August and submitted by rising contender Dennis Siver at UFC 122 in Germany. A victory here will be crucial, as the Brit looks to keep his spot within the crowded 155-pound division.
Njokuani (13-5-0), meanwhile, is coming off a closely-contended unanimous decision loss to Edson Barboza in his UFC debut. Though he netted a Fight of the Night bonus for his troubles, it was the former WEC competitor's third defeat in his last four outings.
UFC 132 is set to take place July 2nd from the the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be headlined by a Bantamweight title clash between division Champion Dominick Cruz and challenger Urijah Faber.
