UFC 117 combatants Anderson Silva, Chael Sonnen, Stefan Struve and the Hall of Famer Matt Hughes all earned hefty $60,000 bonuses for their performances at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. Stefan Struve earned the "Knockout of the Night" bonus for his stunning comeback on the Preliminary Card, while Matt Hughes got the "Submission of the Night" for his brutal Guillotine Choke victory against Ricardo Almeida.

As for the main eventers, Anderson Silva was also named for the "Submission of the Night" award as well as the "Fight of the Night" alongside Chael Sonnen, receiving no less than $120,000 bonus to his original fighting purse.

Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to action on August 28th, with the Penn vs Edgar and James Toney against Randy Couture fights at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

He should give back one of the bonuses for his appaling performance against Maia!

...and now the rest of you know why Silva did everything he could not to fight Hendo a second time and how he said he shouldn't have to fight Sonnen.

Of course inferring to the world that Sonnen was just so far below him!

Luck is one of the most retarded words to use when it comes to criticizing the outcome of a competetive sport. That and "sucks". Sorry, just my pet peeves.

I don't think he was afraid to fight Henderson at all. He already beat him, and had no reason to believe a second fight would be any different. And let's not forget what happened to Henderson, he himself got out wrestled.

"all earned hefty $60,000 bonuses" -- since when the **** is $60,000 ****ing "hefty" for the elite in the sport? Nice to see Gurevich is part of the UFC propoganda marketing machine. These fighters are grossly underpaid.

Maybe its hefty because this isn't boxing and fighters don't expect to be paid a kings ransom to go out and perform in front of the world.

it was a great comeback sub but SOTN should have gone to hughes.

Yeah I know...a guy losing to another guy who he beat on for 4 1/2 rounds and said a black belt in BJJ from the Nogueira's is like a free toy in your happy meal and turning a weak position into the dominant position with an injury and keeping his composure enough to never give up and still show skill and heart...total bullshit huh dumbass?

So because Silva gave an excuse for how he was "injured" coming into the fight he deserves an extra bonus? Did you know btw that Sonnen had a stomach flue 2 days before the fight which is the ONLY reason he got tired enough for Silva to catch him in that sub. I mean for 23 min Silva had never even been close to a sub on Sonnen.

Also all fighters go into fights with some injuries or they are not preparing properly but only bitches complain about it.

Roy Nelson vs JDS should have gotten fight of the night, this is just Dana sucking up to Silva again.
