Anderson Silva: Nothing to say about Chael Sonnen

funny yes..and he may be afraid of losing his belt before retirement, but i seriously doubt he is afraid of the kitten punches chael throws, that didnt even scratch his face last bout.

in fairness olliehill, if anyone should be scared it should be sonnen, he was on steroids, silva had broken ribs and he still couldnt finish him. look at the post fight interview and look who looked in better condition after the fight, silva didnt really have as much as a black eye. silvas doing the respectful thing and keeping his mouth shout, not getting realed in to sonnens games. silva will destory sonnen in the next fight, sonnen has nothing new to bring to the fight, same game plan is his only option. he has no knockout power.

and if Dana says its Chael then it is... Ed talked how Chael was a low life for 6 to 8 weeks Silva never said anything to correct, til he found out he had to fight him then it was ED said all that stuff and he doesnt agree

@BruceLee - i don't understand why people seem to disagree with your statement when it is simply the truth. It is neither a derogatory statement about Silva or Sonnen and a couple off months ago most people would have agreed with you. Sonnen did actually knock Silva down multiple times in their fight and was in complete control for 95% of the fight and he was also very close to pulling of the win. It wasn't actually that long ago but it seems now that people have short memorys. I'm not a big fan of either fighter but i respect what they both have done and just how good of a fighter they both are, particularly Silva, but as big a mouth as Chael has got he doesn't get the credit he deserves, for the Silva fight and the Brian Stann fight, as well as other contenders he's beaten. People are quick to recognise Silva's acheivements so they should at least extend Sonnen the same courtesy, chump or not, he IS a force to be reckoned with in the MW division........

The thing is I am a fan of both men. I don't favor Sonnen over Silva (unless perhaps if they are fighting each other then I guess I would have to lean slightly towards Sonnen).



Many Silva fans seem to see the world as either black or white. There is no shades in between. They like Silva so they MUST hate Sonnen. Chael did something wrong so HE is a bad person. It doesn't matter if he is a good father, husband or fighter...HE is BAD. It is a lazy way of seeing the world that a weak mind takes rather than deal with all the shades of behavior and character that make up complex people like Silva and Sonnen.

....Ben johnson used steroids, so he's a cheater.Why didn't anyone take the time to ask his children about what an awesome father he was? Why didn't anyone care about how.....



Ok there's not many people that cheat and get remembered, probably because it shouldn't be remembered.

You don't have to be a Silva fan to see that Sonnen is a BAD person. He is a cheat and a liar who makes shady real estate deals and is at the very least a xenophobe if not down right racist. You can't be a good father, husband or any other variety of person with those qualities. Also, being easy to submit and roiding makes his status as a good fighter dubious as well.

@ Choke, There are a couple of reasons I disagree with you. I have patients who are loving caring people who care deeply for their spouses, parents and children who break laws. Some smoke weed, some have driven while drunk, some have not reported income made through tips at work some have downloaded music. What you will find is that people will excuse the law breaking that they don't mind (say, smoking weed) but not other ones that support their dislike for someone.



I have heard Sonnen say that Silva is a great fighter. Silva is black. Sonnen thought Chandella was the best ring girl. She is black. He's not xenophobic. He is trying to get a rise out of Anderson. That's all. I'm surprised you can't see through that.



He had one shady real estate deal. Not deal"S" as you characterize it. I have gone and read the details to the "shady deal". It was minimally shady and I can't figure out who got hurt in that deal. Chael mis-reported money that was borrowed in terms of where it went. He still had to pay the mortgage back. It was wrong. He was wrong. He is a good fighter and entertainer. It doesn't make him "scum" as a person which many here would try and convince us.



Unfortunately, accuracy and facts don't matter much when people are slandering someone they hate.

Smoking weed doesn't hurt anyone (depending on where it comes from). Shady real estate deals leave families in the street. If he only misreported some moneys I can't really argue that. Maybe he isn't that bad in that respect. Being a cheat and a liar as well as a xenophobe on the other hand does make him a bad father as he is the role model for his child and not a good one.

Well the reason we don't like Chael is he cheats and gets credit for doing something he didn't actually accomplish. You seem very happy go lucky. You want to generalize wrong doings as wrong doings. But winning by cheating voids the credibility of the fight. Just like downloading music illegally takes credibility away from the downloader in terms of supporting the artist. Chael may be just trying to get under Andersons skin but he should not lower himself to racist rants and just say he's joking after since he still did it. Some people don't mean to kill people but they go overboard and mad enough in an arguement and it happens and then they say they are sorry. He mayu be a ''good'' father in terms of how he treats his kids but he is a cheater to his family as well and teaches the same morals to those members which means he would not be such a ''good'' father after all but more of maybe a ''loving'' one. Just because you care about your family doesn't make you a good father. Women have been beat to death by ''loving'' husbands but they were bad husbands. You act like nobody is bad. You compare smoking weed which I don't agree with anyway to cheating which is not the same thing. I don't believe that smoking weed is right but it is a personal health choice not a cheating scam to get ahead in life unless you are selling it. You would have to be niave to believe that a guy that gets caught for fraud in real estate, gets caught cheating in mma, calls out other ''cheaters'' and then denies it like the lying POLITICIAN he is can have only those things he's been caught doing on his true life record. You can say I am as bad as Hitler if you want since I have done things wrong too but I think you need to understand the meaning of context and levels. He is making his living and carreer out of cheating and I stole a chocolate bar when I was 13, smoked weed when I was 16 and 17 and told the truth in as smart and clever a way as possible for my resume' at work 5 years ago. I don't try and win a world championship with enhancers, give stolen money to people to get a sale and call out cheating champs while I cheat myself and then when caught spill the beans on everyone else just because it didn't work out for me in exchange for a slap on the wrist and another shot at my undeserved dream.

People die in the production and delivery of weed. I have patients in my practice who suffer financial hardship because someone in the family is spending large amounts of money on weed. If you are jailed for weed (rightly or wrongly) you have created hardship for the people that love you.

I agree it's wrong and should be stopped just like ratting all your criminal friends out and taking enhancers for another chance at your dreams is wrong and should be stopped an not taken lightly. Chael would not be a good father even if he loves his kids. He can however become one but he doesn't seem to want to take up any slack with his style so it's unlikely he has learned a bunch yet. Anderson seems like a good father however as it seems to be his highlight in life and they are often with him at events and as far as we know is living an honest life and that therefore teaches his kids the same.

I'm wondering what Chael said. Anderson doesn't fight with words.

Its possible for GSP to surpass his octogon record, but I dont think GSP will be remembered as "greater" simply because he is not as entertaining when it comes to finishing opponents period, much less in a fashionable way.

All about the finishes that determine the dominance of a fighter, Silva hands down takes the "shock factor" when it comes to the way he finishes his fights.

Whats great is how Anderson is treating Chael exactly how a parent should treat a child with a tantrum when he doesn't get what he wants. Ignore him and don't give him the attention that they so clearly crave.

Just a couple of months ago almost everyone on this site was saying Silva was scared to fight Chael again and that he was ruining his legacy by backing out of fighting Chael again while at the same time being pro Sonnen, saying he deserved another shot and that he could beat Silva, hardly anything has changed and now everyone is back behind Silva again. I don't get how so may peoples opinions can change in such a short space of time..........strange.......

Opinions may not have changed but just the conversation. If you ask me what I think of Chael I will say he is a total DB. I will also say that he is no where near the fighter Silva is and will likely get destroyed in a rematch BUT that he could conceivably wrestle out a decision. If you ask me if Silva might be nervous about getting wrestled to a decision I will concede that this is possible. If you were to further ask me if I think Chael deserves a rematch I will say that he has come the closest to beating Silva and a rematch is in order. These are not contradictory stances but taken by themselves my opinions could seem pro Sonnen one minute and pro Silva the next.

It is rare to see a well thought out reasoned response here. Bravo.
