What?? You would think he is Maia the way he is talking about being disrespected! Plus if you wanted to send message do to Maia what you did to Griffin! You can't be that sensitive as a fighter. Guys say so much worse than "I'm going to take one of his arms off" and nobody cries about it. So disappointed in Silva.
Yeah i think Maia was actually really respectful and also silva didnt even touch gloves with maia so idk wth silva is talking about, Silva you lost a fan.
He didn't. Silva is just an arrogant ****. He should be fighting the top guys at 205. This sh*t is ridiculous. I think he acted like a dishonorable asshole and then faked a apology. I really don't think Anderson gives a sh*t about the fans.
Why they are not giving him tough fights at 205, I don't know, unless the UFC is just trying feed him easy KOs so that they can continue to claim he is the p4p best in the world. Give him some real fights at 205 (not Forrest or Irvin) like Thiago Silva, Rampage, Shogun or Machida (yes, he should fight Machida)
What is he talking about?? Nobody liked that fight, and trash talking comes with the territory he shouldn't act like a kid. I don't like to see a wasted fight or wasted talent. Poor show, 112 was an epic fail
The timidity rule was not applied. That's what it's there for, it would have negated all of this drama. He didn't get warned until there were only seconds left in the final round. Ref should have been taking points for whole second half of the fight. He still would have won on points, but the rule is there for a reason. It's a good rule.
oooh man, Andersons sounds like a broken record. He always thinks he delivered because he trains hard. But thats only half of it. He's getting good at talking around the truth. The truth is people did NOT get their money's worth and nobody liked that fight, ****ing pathetic. waste of time and money. I completely understand Dana's pissed.
I cant believe Anderson felt disrespected just because maya made a funny comment to hype the fight (that he would take one of his arms or legs) That shit doesn't make sence. Anderson should own the fact that he ran like a pussy last night and try and do a lot better next time. He never owns his faults and he seems to keep repeating extremely boring pathetic tactics. He's no p4p king to me, Fedor is. You'd never hear Fedor say he thinks he delivered if he had put on such a pathetic display. But then again Fedor would never run and do nothing the entire 5 rounds. Pathetic Anderson....!
I've been thinking about this quite a bit....I think what happened was there was the talk of how much better Maia's ground game was and if it went to the floor he could finish Silva.....so the ego maniac was offended and took it out on Maia and then tried to put the blame on Maia.
Maia's trash talk skills are worse than GSP's for crying out loud.
All Demian does is respect everyone and really show the true spirit of a martial artist.
I am sending a video of this fight to BullyBeatdown hopefully Mayhem Miller can teach this Bully a lesson (jk)
I have a few Portuguese (sp) Friends who have told me that Ed Soares often takes what Anderson Says and sugar coats it, and leaves out things that would infuriate us fans and the UFC.
I'll be emailing this video to one of them for the true translation.
Kinda, yeah. I'm from Brazil and Ed Soared did not translate everything exactly as Anderson said. That said, you can't really get what Anderson said from this movie, as it has either been cut off or Ed's voice over wont let us hear what Anderson said.
But I saw another movie earlier, which ive heard everyhting Anderson said.
He said he's not there to please everybody, he has a job to do and thats what he did (ie, he won). He said Maia desrespected him, not as an athlete, but as a martial artist. And he takes that very seriously.
When asked what exactly Maia did, he said the UFC is the biggest and best organisation in the world by far, but everything needs to be done very carefurly, specially when puting 2 brazilians against each other. He said he was tought as a martial artist to respect everybody, but Maia didnt respect him moraly (by saying bad stuff about him before the fight), so he made Maia pay for that.
He also said he went in there to do what he was training for, to make his opponnent look vulnerable to everything he did. That's what he likes to do, but not hurting his opponnents. Some fights will have KOs and some wont.
I must be in the minority here. What I saw in that final fight was 2.5 rounds of Silva proving that he is on another level that no one has an answer for. Much respect to Maia, but Silva looked like a grown man in there with a child. The domination was hard to watch. And it seemed like he was trying to get Maia to engage with all the clowning and taunting. He could have finished him at any moment. But I am confused as everyone else as to why the last two rounds went the way they did. I think there is more going on than we all know. It's really puzzling.
The problem with Dana is, that he is a promoter and puts himself out there too much, so now he has to eat crow. Boo hoo. That's his job. The highs with the lows. But hearing him cry about it is going to get really irritating. His bellyaching really distracted from the fact that the Edgar/Penn fight was insane and that many of the under card fights were fantastic. I hope he shuts up soon.
What Silva did was very disrespectful. It is on par with what Manny Ramirez got booted off the Red Sox for. When he ran for that fly in left field and rolled around on the ball, acting a fool.
Your a bit confused, yeah that is true. Silva couldn't put Maia away, because if he could, then Maia would have lost by TKO, Submission, or KO. Playing a ref's points game is not a true way to dominate a fighter. Especially since Maia won rounds 4 and 5 in the judges eye.
If MMA started on the ground, that would be the equivalent to Maia trying a few submissions than lying on top of Silva until the end of round 5.
..and lastly, Dana and every reporter there, gave mad props to Franky for his performance.
I agree in the aspect that Dana White sholdnt have added so much fuel. Before everyone starts bashing me tho, take a minute to understand what I am saying. I am not saying that it was no big deal what happened, but as a smart owner and business man he should have kept his emotions to himself. He should have been like, "Yea I know that was insane, I am gonna really have to sit down with Silva and figure things out. When I do you guys will be the first to know. But did you guys see the Edgar vs Penn fight? That was nuts! I am also impressed with Munoz's comeback!! etc etc etc." Instead he cried on and on which only made people feel that had even more right to be angry. Now, like I said, maybe the do have even more right, but as an owner and business man, he acted kinda unprofessional and even stupid.
I can't really see how Maia disrespected A.Silva by saying what he said because most fighters usually talk trash about their opponents before almost every fight just to hype the fight up.
wath Anderson did to Maia first and second round Maia did the same to him chaising him in the octagon and saying don runn fight like man.the whole fight maia never was in danger losing the figt first round nothing hapened no punches landed nothing. If the sise of the octagon was sise of nort America Anderson wuld escape to Alaska
Wath planet are you from? The word is what damnit, W H A T!!!
Maia was never in danger of losing the fight? I think Anderson coulda picked him off if he wanted to. And no, I'm not impressed with the childish behaviour of "The Spider". He needs to get his shit together.
If A SIlva feels disrespected by what Maia said about him during the pre-fight hype, then he is in the wrong sport. Fighters are expected to hype the fight to get some interest from the watching public and that is what Maia barely did. He did not even go the extent of trash talking like most other fighters do including BJ Penn, etc.
I wish Dana would put A SIlva against an American fighter who would be too proud to get treated like that in the octagon and make him eat his words while taunting the guy to hit him in the face. If Maia was even half of an athlete as GSP or Brock Lesnar, he would have easily pounded his face during round 2 when SIlva was just standing there and asking to hit him in the face. I don't know why Maia did not even throw a single punch or kick in rds 1 and 2.
If UFC does not do anything to correct this kind of behavior they are going to keep loosing points to Strike Force, I did not pay to watch this fight because they are free here in Mexico but I can imagine how everybody in the US that pay 50 bucks are very upset for watching Anderson Silva clown around for 5 rounds .
Adding insult to injury isn't for everyone. To me, a dominate performance is a dominant performance, people do it differently.
Fedor gets smashed in the face, bleeds everywhere, throws the guy around and then knocks him out. People criticize him for not fighting good competition.
GSP takes the guy down whenever he wants, keeps him there for basically as long as he wants, beats the guy up. People criticize him for not being able to finish.
Silva makes the guy he's fighting against look useless, taunts and goads his opponent to the point people laugh at who he's fighting, seems to carry some opponents to the end if they aren't aggressive but if they try to hurt him they get finished. People criticize him for not always finishing and not taking his opponents seriously
Machida usually makes his opponents look useless, can score knockouts when he wants. Doesn't outright clown like silva does, but still makes his opponents look quite foolish. Criticism here is similar to silva.
Who's most impressive? I know i just showed silvas fight last night to a girl that doesn't watch MMA and she thought it was hilarious
Fedor is greatest an most impressive! Sure rogers hasn't been training long and smashed him with a jab, but Fedor finished!!!!! Sure arlovski and silvia were let go from UFC and their careers have been spiralling ever since, but Fedor finished!
Fedor isn't dumb, he knows MMA fans want smash and bash, not a showcase of talent or domination! He knows not to lose so he doesn't challenge just anyone like penn, gsp or silva do!!!

when or how did maia ever disrespect him?

112 wasn't an epic fail, the main event was. Take the event for what it was worth - overall good fights just one god-awful one.
It was the main event that most people payed to see, and Dana is trying to expand in other countries so on that front it was an epic fail
I paid to see Edgar and Penn... I knew Silva would win against Mia (just didn't think he'd clown around so much.)

Fair enough i suppose. Good point, sharp by me.

Good work, thanks man
Instead of apologizing for a poor performance, Silva is acting like a such a child, completely lost respect for him now.
Everyone keep saying he didnt apologize, but he apologized first thing when they approached him with the mic in the center of the cage.

Don't turn this on Dana you tool.

When Dana calls you for foot massages, do you clear your schedule and head over right away, or do you tease him and make him wait?
Strikeforce and CBS got Dana Scared...LOL!
Silva to Strikeforce!

You're right. Only thing I can think of is that its a Brazilian vs Brazilian thing. But who knows?

still no one is talking about Maia throwing 3 punches in 2 rounds.
