Alistair Overeem charged with Misdemeanor Battery, will appear in court on February 21stPosted on January 31, 2012, 03:45 PM by Anton Gurevich
Alistair Overeem's adventures in the USA continue.
This time "The Demolition Man" finds himself charged with one count of misdemeanor battery after allegedly pushing a woman during New Year's Eve weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to the citation issued by Las Vegas police, the Dutchman pushed or shoved a woman in the face, "causing her to stagger back".
Overeem already hired a famous defense attorney David Chesnoff, who released the following statement (via lvrj.com):
"Alistair was not arrested, but was summoned to court," Chesnoff said. "There are two sides to this story and we intend on vigorously defending this. Alistair maintains his innocence."
Number one contender for the UFC Heavyweight title will appear in court at 8AM, on February 21st, with $1,000 fine and a maximum of six months in the Clark County Detention Center as the most severe punishment.
It looks like Overeem has to understand that his current superstar status makes him prone to unwanted trouble, which "The Reem" has to find ways to avoid.
