Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair "The Reem" Overeem spoke about his upcoming bout with Brock Lesnar, which will also mark the Dutchman's debut inside the UFC Octagon. According to Overeem, former UFC Heavyweight Champion will not be able to get out of Round 1, and that is despite being "a strong guy". The Demolition Man is currently in the middle of his training camp for UFC 141, which will take place on December 30, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Quote via MMAMania.com:

"I'm very confident. It's going to be a knockout victory in the first round. He's not going to get out of the first round. It will not come to the second round. He's a strong guy, a very dangerous guy. But, I think I've got what it takes to stop him. And I got what it takes to stop him in the first round."

If he can stuff the takedowns I'd have to agree with Alistair. On the feet Brock is still afraid to get hit and I doubt his stand up has improved enough to survive.

Mannnn this is scary fight for Overeem Brock has Heavy Heavy hands

and good wrestling he hasnt fought a guy this big and Brock will come straight at him and try and catch him with a big punch and Overeem has a tendency to have his hands in weird locations that leaves him open but

Reem has way more skills has more talent but in heavy weight doesnt matter as much like welter weights

Really do you have inside info on Lesnar...did he tell you that? I've personally never heard Brock say he's afraid to get hit in the face....who knows he might come back stronger than ever he has scraped by death twice now and normal joe would've kicked the bucket giive this guy a break lets just wait till dec and see what brock shows up until then lets keep the poor speculation to a minimal....what do you say guy?

Outstruck by quick and weak shots. Alistair was throwin bombs the entire time. Break it down to physics: something light will flow faster and in increased numbers than something that is heavy.

Alistair is going to take Brock out relatively easy. Those who follow him and understand his capabilities will see this. Brock does NOT belong in the UFC. Alistair is going to give him his walking papers back to the WWE where he can juice up throw guys over the ropes again.

A bunch of no names lol wait he did beat belfort at a catch weight...so there you go a bunch of no name victories and he can beat up on the smaller guy funny if he throws so many bombs why couldnt he even get a knockout at a catch weight fight....sad....cough over rated...my bad sorry

Not if Brock jumps guard right away and then smoothly turns it into full mount before they even land on the ground!

He wouldn't be able to do that without first sliding into Alistair...

I have to be honest and say despite the fact I like The Reem he hasn't shwon me anything to suggest he can stop Brock from taking him down and pounding him out. Its a lot easier to run away from strikes, which is what Brock will probably do.

Either way as long as this does not become a bore-fest like the Werdum fight I won't care who wins.

I'm sure Alistair could do something similar to the H-Bomb in the WWE. He has a lot of untapped power. He could simply power his way out of a grapple, much like he did in the second Werdum fight.

This one is tough to call. I wouldn't bet on any on them but if I really had to I'd pick Overeem because he has more experience, he's a better striker, and it's Brock's first time fighting someone strong as him. What made Lesnar a good fighter was majorly his strengt. He was able to dominate his opponents because he was too powerful. He won't be able to exploit his power too much against the reem. Alistair as showed that he had strenght but his striking is without a doubt superior to Lesnar's.

Overeem via decision or maybe a late KO. Don't forget, brock's tough.

Brock Lesnar has proven beyond doubt that he can take very heavy strikes. If he has spent his time learning how to move on his feet whilst taking strikes, he will have a chance of closing the distance and attacking a somewhat suspect chin from a maintainable top position.

Anyone who can beat Randy Couture and Frank Mir with no real cage experience deserves respect, the fact that he has come back from serious illness and the fact that he seems to have a distinct vision of his success tells me, that this fight is not a certain victory for Allistair.

9 out of 10 fights have been to nobody and any decent fighter has sent his ass to the canvas to sleep lol Just an FYI Strikeforce is a fallout for UFC washouts and nobobys that cant make it into the UFC....he has been KO'd mutiple times to Rua and Nog also KO'd by Liddel couldn't even KO Belfort at a catch weight....please tell me how this guy willl clean up the UFC HW... two words says it all.....OVER RATED! Trust me if all these Strikeforce, Dream, and K-1 guys were worth a shit they would've been pulled over in 05-06 just like all the other good ones were truth is the UFC never wanted them in the first place but the ones they did want came over immedately ex: like Jackson and Rua....they're only coming over now because Zuffa agreed to let them finish their contracts....but a lot of them will go 0-3 in the UFC and go fight Bellator lol come on guys if your a good fighter the UFC in fact WILL pick you up. Stop Hyping these guys up because the guys coming over arent looking that great so far. just my two cents

Overeem should watch what he says he will gas during his entrance to the cage.

BTW pretty bold statement for someone who said he will knock out verdum in round 1

This is a interesting match up. i believe who ever can execute their game plan the best will win. Its to top notch fighters with totally different style. Either way it should be exiting, two of the biggest guys in the heavyweight division should mean some sort of K.O. or T.K.O. Or it could go to the second round and both of them gas and be lack luster from that point on. And in my personal opinion every fighter in the Heavyweight division is a little overrated. I don't believe any of them have a total all around game. Each of them could be beat by one another on any given night the competion is that close. None of them have that all around game of Great stand up, wrestling, and jiu jitsu maybe with the exception of Roy Nelson but he isn't fighting in the right division the size difference between him and everyone else will stop him from being dominant in that division.

Brocks agility, strength and cardio are tough obstacles for the Reem-if he doesnt get a quick ko,i see Lesnar stopping an exhausted Reem in the 2nd round, similar to the Carwin result.Reem will have his work cut out preventing the take down and he doesnt have Velasquezs supreme wrestling ability and technique.Lesnars relentless pace, weight and strength have a greater chance of pulling through.

If he manages to keep brock from putting him on his back and DOSENT GAS OUT, if he catches Brock with those stiff punches he is capable of yes he will finish him, but thats a big "IF"
