Alexander Gustafsson: Victory over Matt Hamill is the biggest in my career
Posted on August 8, 2011, 04:16 AM by Anton Gurevich"The Mauler" Alexander Gustafsson shared thoughts about his victory over Matt Hamill via TKO in Round 2 at UFC 133, to improve his MMA record to 12-1. Gustafsson is currently 3-1 in his UFC campaign, losing only to Phil Davis via Submission.
Twenty-four year old Swede will now move up in the UFC Light Heavyweight ladder, with sights on getting himself into the mix for a shot at the title. One of Gustafsson's potential opponents could be the winner of UFC 133's cancelled match-up between Rich Franklin and Rogerio Nogueira. Brazilian veteran was forced to pull out of the bout due to an injury, as Alexander Gustafsson was one of the fighters offered to fight Rich Franklin. However, "Ace" refused to face Gustafsson, claiming that he wants to test his skills against someone with a "bigger name".

Shouldn't be too excited about tko'n a handicap, at least Rampage had a heart & toyed with the fellow
I am just wondering, are you that dumb to make jokes like that or are you just a prick???
hateocracy = certified dumbass
Hammil is a dump truck in my opinion, you don't have to get Prop. 8ish about it girl, when is the last time dude won a fight....Time to get cut while they're cutting other better fighters.
Pretty sure he wasn't mad at the fact that he hasn't had very much success in recent fights. But the fact about your comment of "tko'n a handicap" Yeah he may be handicap. But that shouldn't matter. Pretty Ignorant to say.
Waow clearly you are the DUMBEST **** that posts on this site!!!!!
Gustaffson deserves a Top 10 fight next opponent... I'm glad he went and trained with Phil Davis, it really showed in his TDD. I'm a big fan of Alexander, and have been since I first saw him fight.
It seems people forget that Alex actually stuffed Phil's takedown attempts and got caught in a submission because he got overconfident and tried to take Phil down.
He did look good in this fight but that said Hamill has never been one of the best strikers has he, nor is he very fast. I like Hamill but he does need to work on both his strking and speed, to be honest he's looked quite slow in most area's lately even his shots. Anyway, taking nothing away from Gustafsson he was quick, sharp, his movement was good and his strking was top notch too, they were two lovely uppercuts that he caught Hamill with at the begining of the end. He does deserve a top ten LHW next but i don't think he's ready for the top three or four just yet but he has plenty of time as he's only young, he's definately one to watch though.......
You gotta like guys with this mentality, " I want to beat the old Alex every fight, Im taking one fight at a time." Nice guy with a level head, these are the types that stay focused and go far.
Obviously Alex still has a lot to prove and its not like Alex himself is saying he wants a top 10 guy or that he himself is top 10 now, that doesn't change that this was a big win for him and a really big step forward in his career.
I am a Swede and obviously I love watching Alex in the UFC but I really hope that the UFC keeps giving him time to develop and not throw him agaisn't one of the top 10 quite yet. Personally I want to see him fight The Janitor like he was suppose to still.
hammil looked so slow..it sucks hes going to retire
