Alessio "Legionarius" Sakara is no stranger to UFC competition. He debuted with the promotion in 2005 after spending time as a professional boxer in his native Italy. Since then he has been a veteran of 11 UFC bouts, amassing a modest 6-5 record while being noted for his always-exciting striking style. This Saturday, Sakara will return to the Octagon in Sweden after a long layoff of 13 months. He was interviewed yesterday and had some interesting things to say about his upcoming bout with the heavy-hitting Brian Stann:

“My fight with Stann will be good. I like his style it is very similar to mine and he is a very tough guy. This will be a very fun fight for UFC fans and I am very happy to be fighting in Sweden because it is very close to Italy. For the first time I will have a lot of my friends and family watching me fight live.” - courtesy of: mmafrenzy.com

It appears that Sakara is intent of giving the first-time Swedish fans a good show, and his opponent Stann always comes to stand and trade. A very exciting bout should follow. The major issue facing Sakara will be his ability to return from the injury that forced him out of competition for over a year. He had the following to say about the subject:

“I suffered an injury, but now I am feeling good and feel as though I am at 100%. I feel very good and I have been training in the cage and everything has healed up nicely. I tore the ACL in my knee and had to have surgery, but thankfully everything went well. I have been sparring and it feels good. Now everything is nice.”

With any apparent concerns about his injuries seeming to take a backseat, Sakara will head into UFC on Fuel TV 2 with seemingly a boatload of confidence and readiness to go to war with Brian Stann.

When asked for his prediction for the fight, he responded:

“I never like to make predictions before. This fight will be a war and it’ll more than likely end before it can go to a decision. We both want to knock each other out and we both have the striking and the power to do so. It will be a great fight for the fans.”

With both fighters having no qualms about stating their intent to knock the other man out, this Saturday's first-ever card should provide quite the fireworks. Stayed tuned to Lowkick.com for more news and results.

Sakara is gonna be outclassed, then KO'd. Not on the Brian Stann hype train, just the Sakara has been overrated for years and is gonna be put down......train

I'm sort of rooting for both guys because Stann is such a class act and Sakara is just a warrior, also feel bad for all the stuff the guy has went through in the last few years.

Either way should be a stand up war unless Stann tries a bit of wrestling or Sakara implements some of his black belt BJJ.
