Fight Night 25: Alan Belcher dominates Jason McDonald in his Octagon return
Posted on September 17, 2011, 08:53 PM by Joey Santosus
Returning from an extended layoff, questions surrounding whether Alan Belcher would suffer from ring-rust were quickly put to rest. As the card opener got underway, the Biloxi, Mississippi native picked his shots and seemingly landed at will on Jason McDonald. Once McDonald ended up on his back, things went from bad to worse for the Canadian, as Belcher maintained complete control before eventually opening up with a barrage of punches and elbows that left McDonald with no other answer then to tap to strikes at 3:48 of the very first-round.
Picking up right where he left off before suffering the eye injury that threatened his career, the victory marks Belcher's eighth inside of the UFC octagon. With previous wins over former title contender Patrick Cote, as well as competitors such as Denis Kang and Ed Herman, another strong victory or two could put the RoufusSport fighter right back into the title mix.
