Strikeforce to hold September 29 card in Sacramento, California
Posted on July 15, 2012, 04:45 PM by Mike SearsonStrikeforce is coming to Sacramento, California. The promotion announced Saturday during the Showtime broadcast of "Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy", that they will host a fight card on September 29 at the Power Balance Pavillion, formerly the Arco Arena.
Strikeforce's next show is set for August 18 at Valley View Casino in San Diego, featuring a Bantamweight title fight in the female division between Champion Ronda Rousey and top contender Sarah Kaufman.
The September card will be the second show of the day for Zuffa, which has UFC on FUEL TV 5 taking place the same day in Nottingham, England, which should wrap up before the Strikeforce card begins. Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner Daniel Cormier will be on the card, likely in the main event.
Cormier (10-0 MMA, 7-0 Strikeforce) won a unanimous decision over Josh Barnett in May to win Strikeforce's heavyweight tournament. However, the injuries he suffered in the fight have been keeping him on the sidelines. His opponent has yet to be announced.
This will be the first time that the San Jose based promoter will host an event in the state's capital.

I have no idea who this will be, it'll be a complete surprise to as to whom ever they announce.
Brock Lesnar... possible if Dana is willing to let him fight in Strikeforce.
Shane Carwin... not likely since he will be on TUF vs Roy Nelson.
Tim Silva... wants back in with Zuffa. Don't think this would be progressive much for Daniel. He has already proven to be in the top 10.
Alistair Overeem... This is possible since Junior may be fighting Cain after all. Besides, this is a fight worthy for all Strikeforce fans. A perfect match up for them both.
My guess is: Alistair Overeem VS Daniel Cormier
What do you guys think??
hoping they pull a good fighter out of the bag, that is deserving of Cormier.
Love to see them bring in Kharitonov but heard he just signed with Glory World Series (kickboxing). Outside of him can't think of anyone
Fedor resigns with Strikeforce. Big main event, Fedor vs Cormier. Fedor bulldozes DC in the first round. Signs with Zuffa, cleans through everyone only to get owned by GSP on the way out to fight Overeem for the HW title.
Zuffa/UFC**
This guy is the future UFC heavyweight champ.
Still don't understand how Cormier is still in SF if UFC absorbed all the HW's. Dude should be making his UFC debut. And who's there left to fight out there? All the good fighters have been moved or lost in the tourney.
Showtime wrung the concession out of the UFC that the winner of the SF tournament would fight one more time after his title victory.
I don't see the UFC giving Cormier a tough opponent since Dana and Joe want Cormier to be on a main card in the UFC. I strongly doubt a current UFC HW will make the jump to strikeforce--unless it is a lower rung HW.
I don't see the UFC wasting talent on a StrikeForce show.
UFC should be Zuffa
