"The Dreamcatcher" Mousasi signs a new 2-year contract with Strikeforce

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker has officially confirmed that the promotion's twenty-four year old Light Heavyweight Champion Gegard Mousasi has re-signed with Strikeforce in a four-fight minimum two year deal. 28-2 Dutch-Armenian became on of the top Light Heavyweights in the World, after defeating fighters like Renato Sobral, Mark Hunt, Melvin Manhoef, Jacare Souza and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.

Mousasi will put his title on the line for the very first time in his Strikeforce career, at the star-packed Strikeforce: Nashville event. Mousasi will square off against the decorated Wrestler King Mo, who is yet to be beaten in his career.

The news might upset the UFC President Dana White, who declared himself numerous times as an avid fan of Gegard Mousasi's abilities. Dana White will seek for redemption by signing the Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Jake Shields, who becomes a free agent after the headlining bout against Dan Henderson at Strikeforce: Nashville.

I wish he would have gone to the UFC. So much more competition for him there.

True, but keeping him at Strikeforce will attract more LHWs to that promotion. Strikeforce is starting to put together a really good roster and it is becoming a legit promotion to go to if UFC is not paying its fighters. It's good for the sport and good for the guys making a living doing this. I would love to watch Strikeforce continue to grow and attract more great fighters. This card proves that they are more than a one trick Fedor pony. Their website is cheap and second rate though. They really need to do something about that.

Screw UFC, I like good free fights.

Maybe Dana "2faced" White will lose more of his fighters to Strikeforce and we can see them for free also.

Let Strikeforce get paid by big corporations, not by snowjobbing and giving crap fights while raping the fans.

i agree i would like to see UFC fighters go to strikeforce!

Rich franklin for example has nothing to do in the UFC

hesjust a gatekeeper! he wont fight at 185 because he dosent want to fight silva again and hes not big enogh to compete at 205

he could do very good at strikeforce!

as many other fighters like jardine , hammil , wanderlei silva amoung others

i mean UFC will still have the champions , but a lot of fighters could make good fights at strikeforce!

Strikeforce is brand-f-cking new. I have been watching m.m.a since 1993 and because of the u.f.c after u.f.c 28 which I was at ,Dana white made it possible for people like "you" to watch m.m.a still "yeah you had to pay, that's why its a huge company to this day, because people like me don't bitch and complain when we have to pull money out of our pocket for an event. U.f.c is where its at. Yeah they had some bad cards but they are also on u.f.c 113. How many strikeforces have there been. Like I said Dana white has been providing m.m.a fans the best fights for ever ,and yes sometimes free. Deal with it.

The only problem is StrikeForce isn't free unless on CBS.

You got to pay 20bucks to subscribe to ShowTime or SuperChannelFights to see those fights.

But other than that your right, it is free.

I like UFC but seriously... if you want to make your events PPV; atleast make it cheaper or only make championship events PPV or something. And during the events, seriously!!! enough with the comercials. We did not pay 50 bucks for a few fights and a bunch of comercials.

    Well...thats my opinion

i get the ufc cards for free, so i honestly couldnt care less...all i see is that strikeforce is throwin all there eggs in one basket with this card(with the exception of fedor, i admit) the day that bobby lashley nd herschel walker headline a ufc card will be a strange day indeed

so yes, this is a good card and its free,

but no, the next one wont be as good,

    or the next one,

    or the next one,

if silva hadnt been a **** then 112 wooda been awesome, especially with edgars preformance,

111 was good with carwin knocking out mir,

113 will be unreal with shogun machida AND kos daley

so while ppl are quick to jump on the 'i hate dana and love scott coker cos strikeforce is suddenly SOO good' bandwagon, just think where us mma fans would be without dana...admiring bobbly lashley as 1 of the best p4p fighters in the world....nice...

But that's life. I have payed for every u.f.c and never complain. I love m.m.a and never say " man I just spent 50 bucks, this card better be good". I just watch it cause I love it.

The NFL for example is totally supported by major TV labels and they have more money circulating than the UFC. Strikeforce is growing at a fast rate using this gameplan, something Dana wont use right now, because he wants all the money for himself and the fertita's.

Why do you think pro ball players have multimillion dollar contracts, because there is no money in it? Nope

    How is this good news!?

After Hendo who the **** else is there?? A top-five LHW should not be fighting in some second-rate crapshow with a small roster of mediocre fighters.

People, stop holding onto the outdated boxing model of multiple promotions. One elite league, as they have done with hockey, football, baseball and basketball, means all the best get to compete together.

This is a bad news day for MMA.

UFC paying fighters so little that they are part time fighters is bad for MMA.

Free on national TV is the way of the future, we don't pay to see baseball, basketball, football, or even soccer on TV why the hell should be pay $50 every other week to watch the UFC and while their cheap asses can't even pay the undercard fighters more then chump change.

The UFC isn't building MMA fighters they are using them for profit.

I like Bellator tournament format, if Strikeforce can do the same then we will see great fighters drop from UFC and join Strikeforce. imagine that u have 8 man tournament with names like, Gegard Mousasi, Lyoto machida, Rampage jackson, Bones jones, King Mo, Anderson Sliva at (205), Shogun and (Last spot could be decided from a fight between Kimbo and James Tony, winner gets in the tournament.

as much as i would like to see Mousasi fight in the UFC, i respect his decision to stay in Strikeforce. he said that the organization treats him well and knows that Strikeforce stable is growing so there are potential challenges coming. We'll see this dude dominate in Strikeforce and maybe even DREAM. He will be a force to be reckoned with if the time comes for him to fight in the UFC. He's young at only 24 and already has an impressive record, i think he plans to make it look even more impressive and make a bigger name for himself before going to the UFC.

it wasnt so long ago i got about 30 "weaks" for saying mousassi was no where near the top 5 in the lhw devision. Does everyone still think the same or have they jumped to the king mo wagon and now think he is the best?

how is king mo the best by gassing out after 2 rounds, just like mousassi did, and lay and praying for the entire bout?

im not saying king mo is the best, far from it actually. Im saying that before this fight everyone was like "mousassi is the best, he could challenge machida". This fight clearly shows he couldnt, and as i said above, alot of people who nuthug a certain fighter have a tendancy to jump ship if he loses.

Mo really scored with the judges on the good takedowns. Mousasi was beating on him while on his back.......take a look at Mo's face, looked much worse that Gegard's
