Strikeforce Tate vs. Rousey Fighter Salaries: "Jacare" Souza, Josh Thomson lead payrollPosted on March 5, 2012, 01:39 PM by Joey Santosus
The Ohio State Athletic Commission has released the final salary figures for fighters competing on Saturday's Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey card from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio
Topping the payroll with $92,000 was Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace and former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, who bounced back from his title-losing defeat against Luke Rockhold with a third-round arm-triangle submission victory over promotional newcomer Bristol Marunde. The win marks his fifth with the promotion and likely puts him back atop the list of contenders for the 185-pound strap.
In a not-so-distance second was fellow former title holder, Josh Thomson, taking home an even $80,000 for his dominate unanimous decision victory over dangerous striker, K.J. Noons. The outing was his first in more than a year's time, and put him back in the win column following a loss Tatsuya Kawajiri in 2010.
