Mixed Martial Arts veteran Pat "Bam Bam" Healy proved a point by submitting the debutant Maximo Blanco in the main card opener of Strikeforce Heavyweight GP.

Blanco had a great opening for the fight, thanks to a well-timed movement and a visibly better striking than his opponent Pat Healy. However, instead of coming close to finishing the fight, Blanco got one point deducted due to illegally kicking Pat Healy in the face while on the ground. Still, Healy looked hurt, giving every sign for Maximo Blanco's victory in his USA debut.

But things worked out a little bit different in Round 2. Maximo Blanco was unable to execute his striking advantage in Round 2, giving Pat Healy the opportunity to put his impressive grappling skills to work. The Venezuelan got out of the first Rear Naked Choke, but was forced to tap out in the second.

Great victory for Pat Healy, who improves his MMA record to 26-16. Maximo Blanco loses in his USA debut, and is now 8-3-1.

Im glad Healy won, especially after taking those illegal kicks to face and continuing like a warrior. Showed good chin, nice stand up and great ground gme. Force to be reckoned with at LW now at 5-1 at that weight.
