Strikeforce Results: King Mo knocks out Roger Gracie at the end of Round 1
Posted on September 10, 2011, 10:28 PM by Anton GurevichFormer Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion King Mo made a successful return to the cage with a vicious knockout victory over Roger Gracie in the main card action of Strikeforce: Kharitonov vs. Barnett.
The fight had a slow opening, as no one of the fights were able to connect with their strikes. But with just 23 seconds before the end of Round 1, Lawal unleashed fury with a strong right hook that sent Roger Gracie with his face down to the canvas. Muhammed Lawal punished Gracie with another strike, as the referee rushed in to save the Brazilian from further punishment.
King Mo is now 8-1 in MMA, with sights on getting back into Top 10 Light Heavyweight rankings. In his post-fight interview, Lawal called out Feijao Calvacante for a rematch from last year's Strikeforce: Houston.

That was a nice finish, loved it!
Boring fight but love the KO
I did not expect this, thought Roger's chin would hold up better but I guess it was a big punch (back of the head) and Mo carries soem big power. Mo is back in my top 10 with that win - derailing Gracie who I thought was going to be going places in the LHW division.
I can't think of another match up except Feijao and both fo them are in a good place again, will make for another great fight.
That is the problem with Gracie fighters. They need to train for MMA and not live in the Jiu-Jitsu GYM 24/7. Roger showed a descent but weak jab. His movement was better but has no confidence in his Striking as it showed and the crowed got restless.Roger needs to improve his stand up if he wants to be successful in MMA. The best Grappler in the World no doubt but you need all the elements in MMA.
Gracie should stick to what he knows best: grappling and bjj and teach.
