Strikeforce Results: Dan Henderson's "H-Bomb" beats Feijao Cavalcante

Forty year old Dan Henderson became the Champion for the first time since 2007, defeating Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante via TKO in the third round.

Despite the result, it was Feijao who had a better start. The Brazilian rocked Henderson with a powerful right hand, but the veteran managed to quickly regain composure, responding with an excellent takedown. From there, Henderson was in full control, by pushing Feijao back to the fence with well-timed striking and trademark takedowns.

Henderson unleashed the world-famous H-Bomb in the third round, shaving the chin of Feijao. The Champion fell right on his face, as Hendo started to land heavy punches from the top. Third man inside the cage Dan Mirgliota had no choice but to stop the bout, awarding Dan Henderson the famous victory.

It's a tremendous achievement for Dan Henderson, especially at the age of 40. Hendo will now face the winner of April 9th Mousasi-Kyle contest, eyeing a long run as the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion.

Not bad for an old man.

so if you thought feijao could win you dont know what youre talking about? he couldve won, almost did at one point. i was just really suprised with how strong hendo was even tho he was outsized. im disappointed in feijao he focused to much on offense in the clinch instead of trying to defend take downs. still tho, he is early in his career and i still think he will be a top LHW some day. props to hendo, only fighter in his 40's still beating high level competition

As much as I like Hendo, he's not top 5 @ LHW. You have guys like Shogun, Rampage, Rashad, Jones, Machida, Moussasi, Couture, Lowal. Losing to Shields in the way Hendo did, took him down a notch in my opinion.

Hendo would kill Jake Shields now. He was cutting his weight too much and had no strenght left when he fought Jake Shields.

Jones? Let's let him fight a top 5 first. Just because he dismantles fighters who are below him doesn't mean he is top 5. Like bispings last win that didn't prove anything but he s better than a top 20 guy. Jones hasn't fought a top ten guy. Unless you consider Bader who hasn't fought a top 10 guy either. I am sure I could look amazing fighting a homeless drunk man. I could even use spinning back elbows.

Hendo however has faced a list of top 10's of many different eras. This was surely a sign he is still in incredible shape. I would love to see him fight any top 5. I bet he would do great. What did shields do to him again? Won a decision.

i agree, one win in lhw (bobalu barly counts) and now hes top 5? now way, he would never make it far in ufc's lwh division, infact he lost to a welter wheight not too long ago. thats right bring the weaks

He went toe to toe with Rampage and arguably won that fight. He would loose to Jones, but would stand his own against every single one of the UFC's LHW's.

The Strikeforce LHW belt is being passed around like a hot potato. As much as I like Hendo I believe it truly belongs to Mousasi.

Well Mousasi didn't fare too well on his last outing against a wrestler so we'll have to see how that one plays out

The UFC LHW belt is in the same scenario too.

You had Rampage lose to Griffin, then Griffin lost to Evans, then Evans lost to Machida, Machida luckily defended the belt, then got KO'd by Shogun, now Jones is gonna submit Shogun.

I guess it just proves how the LHW division have so many high level guys that any little mistake and your a goner.

HE'S IS LEGENDARY. I SEE HIM AS A BETTER VERSION OF COUTURE. WITH HIS FIGHTING STYLE AND THE FACT THAT HE'S NOT IN THE UFC'S (STACKED) LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE VERY SUCCESSFUL WELL INTO HIS 40'S. DROPPIN "H"BOMBS ON ALL STRIKEFORCE CONTENDERS..

Wow it seems as if the older Hendo gets the more advanced chin and H-bomb power gets for him. ;)

Almost on a 4-fight H-bomb! KO streak; Shields got lucky.

Well, Dan showed great potential. Didn't gas, he is a lot better at 205 because he doesn't have to cut and still has the strength to knock people out. He truly showed his world class wrestling in this fight, i'm happy that he won. I think the punch that landed was a bit an overstatement, it looked like it landed and Hendo kinda slipped while being off-balanced because if he was rocked he would not be able to stuff that take down and reverse it with such ease, that was amazing. He also showed that skill in using your opponents momentum to reverse the situation with this take-downs. Hendo looked great.

    New SF belts look sick.

What's up with that old geezer that's always in the background holding the belt up? Is that all he does for the company?

Funny how everybody on this site was doubting Hendo's wrestling, yet feijao could only defend 1 takedown.

Good win for Hendo, If he gets Mousasi next:

    -Sharpen the submission defense

-Use your wrestling Mr. Hendo, Mousasi has K-1 level striking.

If he gets Kyle (highly doubtful)

    -H-Bomb!

    -H-Bomb!

    -H-Bomb!

Congratulations to Hendo--he reinforced his legendary status.

I am uncertain how to react to the certainty of many fans. Feijao did well, and almost put Hendo's lights out--so Hendo's victory was not a forgone conclusion. Jake Shields barely survived an H-Bomb--if he had not, much would be different today. So many victories depend upon someone making one crucial mistake, or not capitalizing at just the right moment, I still marvel at the certainty of fans.

Hendo looked very crisp, yea he got rocked in the 1st, but his striking was more accurate and his wrestling was just to much for Feijao. Dans the damn man.
