Strikeforce Results: Dan Henderson TKO's Fedor Emelianenko

It's another disappointing night for Fedor Emelianenko fans around the world. "The Last Emperor" was TKO'd, for the first time in his career, by fellow former PRIDE Champion and MMA legend Dan "Hendo" Henderson.

From the first seconds inside the cage, it was very clear that Dan Henderson is the faster man out of the two. "Hendo" exchanged with Fedor, and managed to land one good hook that rocked "The Last Emperor". Fedor responded with strikes of his own, but was unable to land a clean shot, as both men locked horns at the fence.

Unusually for Fedor, he was unable to control his opponent at the fence. Dan Henderson was still unable to do any real damage, as the referee Herb Dean separated the two. Immediately after getting the action "back" into stand-up, Fedor unleashed fury on Henderson, and managed to rock "All-American". But within seconds, Henderson recovered, caught Fedor's leg, and landed a strong right uppercut.

Emelianenko went with his face down on the canvas, as Henderson landed two more unanswered strikes. And just when Fedor Emelianenko recovered and went back "face-to-face" with Henderson, the referee Herb Dean decided to stop the action.

At the end of the day, we saw a much worse situations when the fight wasn't stopped. Fresh memories take us back to the fight between Nick Diaz and Paul Daley. Diaz was twice in exactly the same situation, with his face down on the mat, but the referee sitll let the bout to continue.

It's a controversial ending to a great fight. But this way or another, no one can take anything from Dan Henderson. He basically moved up in two weight classes to challenge Fedor, and won this fight impressively.

Great fight - saddens me to see Fedor lose to a natural middleweight (even though close in weight for this fight) but props to Dan he's a beast.

If the punch would have landed while on their feet, Fedor would have appeared to had just been "rocked", but being that close to the canvase made him hit it instantly after getting "flash ko'd" making him look like he was out cold. I'm sure Dean had good intentions but bad stoppage!

Let me punch you again after knocking you out and then you can explain to me how it "woke you up"! Pretty dumb argument there! (Hendo hit Bisping again after knocking him out but he stayed out!

You're obviously an MMA rookie... cause if u knew the game, you'd know it's very likely for to be woken up by a second shot after you're out... it happens ALL THE TIME !! nothing new here...

I'm arguing the stoppage, not Fedor's loss. If it wAs the other way around I would be equally upset. Grow up!

the word you want is not "Futile". There are many options but "futile" means that no amount of effort will get a desired result. It doesn't fit. I agree with your intended meaning to a point but while it is likely that Fedor would have recovered you really can't be too dismissive. It is a sport and the call was legit. I also think it should have been allowed to continue but it wasn't and Fedor lost. Still though, F U Herb.

A fight between legends, an amazing fight, that will always be stained by the controversial stoppage.

Silva will beat Hendo every time because A; he is better and B; Hendo can't fight at his best at MW. If they fought at LHW Hendo would have a better chance but I still see Silva winning.

Dan is not a natural middle weight. He has had his worst performances at MW because it is too much of a cut for him at his age. He is now a natural LHW. I have said many times, fighting a LHW is a bad idea for a HW. LHWs are faster and more technical. HWs are just bigger. Sometimes the HW wins like Silva V Kyle but often it goes down like one of Couture's fights or like last night. Fighting a LHW is a risk I would not want to take if I were a HW.

Fedor had a very bad game plan. What is he thinking?

    Dan is the man!

That's how Fedor fights though - always has. The difference is people are more well rounded and able to adapt to the crazy transitions. Fedor has all the tools to still be a great fighter he just needs to change how he fights. Question is does he really want to do that so late in his career after all he's accomplished?

I agree, but it is not too late for Fedor. Look at Hendo, he is 40. I think Fedor needs some head doctors, he is just being so stubborn and does not want to adapt. I don't want him to retire because of his fights, he goes for a kill all the time and people love it.

Fedor as great as he still is , cannot compete with the bigger guys at Heavyweight , he still would beat a lot of them and a lot of guys at 205

but whats the point to keep fighting after his legacy if we is going to fight non title fights , he can't make a run for a title.

its just time for Fedor , he had a great run for a decade.

Fedor fought like he always did... throwing bombs and taking names later, no shame in that. The stoppage is/was controversial, however. Sad to see. Regardless I think the 'Emperor' should call it a day. He has nothing left to prove; tie catches up on everyone.

Great stoppage. As much as I wanted Fedor to win this fight, he did lose it fair and square.

Its safe to say Hendo has the most powerful single punch in the history of MMA.

"Fight of this magnitude" I don't really get why you say that. If you look at this fight you have a heavy weight who's lost two in a row fighting a guy who naturally fights at 185 pounds. There are no belts on the line etc.

Don't get me wrong this fight was one we all wanted to see however it's not like it was for a title, in reality it was more of a 'freak show' if you will than anything else.

There was nothing controversial about the stoppage... and there are no benefits to be given after you go limp! Herb did his job (as usual) and stepped in to stop the fight when Fedor was OUT... there's nothing more to it. The Nuttt hugging has got to stop.. seriously!

Dean screwed Fedor. If it was Big John the fight would still be going on now. I smell Dana since Herb is his favorite ref.

Fedor said after the fight that he didn't want to say anything against the ref but he thought the fight was stopped a little early.
