Barnett is a beast and easily one of the most underrated HWs around but to be fair a lot of the hardcore fans to appreciate him and he is getting more casual fans behind his skills as well.
Even though Cormier is an infant in the sport I think if Josh can get past him he will prove he is one of the best HWs right now and has earned his way back in to the UFC.
Definitely. Cormier though, is going to be a hard puzzle for anyone to solve.
ianna see him against Mir . 2 great an strong grapplers it would be amazing
Yea definitely agree, that's why I will give so much props to Barnett if he gives him his first loss. I've only seen a few Cormier fights so I'd like to see him take a big hit just to see how his chin holds up - unfortunately that can be the big difference in a fighter's career.
A hard puzzle to solve? He looked only one level above Monson and got a quick KO over BF that said more about BF's jaw than his skill. The guy is definitely highly talented but he has a lot more to prove going into this fight than Barnett. I see Barnett winning this via sub. If it goes the other way then I'll start thinking of Cormier as a potential puzzle.
Ha! I love my fans, LOL
Let's be honest though...I would rather try to knockout a fire hydrant then try knocking Bigfoot out by punching him in that jaw.
It is imposing to look at. That said, BF has been rocked in a number of fights
To me Josh seems similar to Mir as a fighter with less technical, powerful striking and a more scrappy ground game (just as good though) but he has the chin to keep him in there against the top strikers unlike Mir.
I don't know if I'm alone in my thinking but I feel Josh definitely could contest for the belt against JDS.
You compare Mir with Josh...Let's laugh!Mir shouldn't even ranked his ass in the top 10.He got thetitle shot by luck.He got smashed by Carwin he should get smashed by Nogueira he would get smashed by Cain and he will get smashed by JDS...
Barnett is a fat slob but has definitely a serious ground game, which with the Strikeforce heavyweights was able to showcase.
I don't think however that this would be easily the case in the Ufc against the top notch guys
Barnett actually has really good Cardio, some people just arent gifted with good genetics. Even when he was juiced, he had the same loose skin look.
Barnett has underrated (effective) standup, his dirty boxing is very similar to Couture. Interesting fight matchup.
Josh is definetely better than JDS.And the SF tournament belt should definitely carry more value than the ufc belt...
i've always like Josh darn good fighter
can not take josh serious since being banned from UFC for 3 banned substances!
(2 steroids and a strong pain killer)
