Strikeforce: Fedor vs Werdum is just around the corner, and we take an in-depth look at LowKick.com’s community predictions at the LowPick: MMA Prediction game. As for now, more than 150 LowKick members participated in Fedor vs Werdum picks, and here are the results as for 7:35 AM ET, June 24th. Picks are still open guys, do not forget to submit them.

Lightweight contest between the former Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Josh “The Punk” Thomson will meet the veteran Pat Healy, in his quest to bounce back from losing his title to Gilbert Melendez at Strikeforce: Evolution. Most of the LowKick users pick Josh Thomson for the win, with 83% of the votes. Both fighters are well-known for their submission skills, but only 13% of Thomson’s pickers and 15% of Healy’s think that the fight will end by tapout.

The second bout of the evening will be the long-anticipated rematch between the kick-virtuoso Cung Le and the “Hands of Steel” Scott Smith. Cung Le will look for revenge against Smith, who blemished his undefeated record at Strikeforce: Evolution with an inspirational TKO victory. Despite losing to Smith, 73% of LowPickers predict a victory for Cung Le, as 52% predict that the Saigon-born striker will end the fight via knockout. In addition to Scott Smith experience advantage, the “Hands of Steel” has 14 knockout victories to his record, a clear indication that this fight has a very low chance going to the judges scores.

In the co-main event of the evening, Muay Thai wrecking machine Cyborg Santos will square off against the Strikeforce debutant Jan Finney. It looks like a very few of LowKick.com members believe that Finney is the one to end Cyborg’s reign as the Strikeforce Womens Lightweight Champion, as only 5% give their vote for Jan Finney. 90% believe that the Brazilian will end the fight by knockout, just like she did to her latest victims Marloes Coenen and Gina Carano.

In the main event of the evening, arguably the best Pound for Pound fighter in the World Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko will enter the Strikeforce cage for the second time, against the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert Fabricio Werdum. It’s hard to pick against a fighter who’s basically undefeated, but a solid 17% believe that “Vai Cavalo” will be able to shock the World and defeat Fedor Emelianenko by Submission (65% of Werdum voters). As for “The Last Emperor”, an incredible 91% of his fans believe that he will end this fight by TKO, just like he did against Brett Rogers and Andrei ArlovskiFedor Emelianenko holds 16 career submission victories, but only 5% of his voters believe that he will be able to submit the BJJ ace Fabricio Werdum.

We would like to remind you once again that Strikeforce: Fedor vs Werdum, UFC  116 and Bellator 23 picks are still open. Click here to go to the Picks & Events page, or view the Tutorial if you are new to LowPick: MMA Prediction Game.

Most lopsided picks I've seen.....This is a testament to two things, lack of competition, and poor matchmaking. Sad but true.

More like poor name recognition from the average Lowkick visitor.

    - Pat Healy's got wins against Dan Hardy, Carlos Condit and Paul Daley and is certainly good enough to beat Thompson on his day.

    - You can never count out Scott Smith.

    - Werdum was in title contention but didn't like the UFC at all and left on his own accounts. Wins against Gonzaga (2x), Vera, A.Emelianenko, Zentsov and Overeem. Won convincingly against the same Bigfoot Silva that completely dominated Arlovski.

The only fight truly lopsided is Cyborg's slaughter imho. The rest are all good fight with top class fighters.

I bet you run from confrontations and get scared. Your posts accurately describe a sheltered little momma's boy who tries to be tough on the internet. Why arent you fighting?

    These guys are "stupid pussies?"

This "average Lowkick visitor" knows every one of the fighters, has competed in MMA and Martial Arts for years, and does not need an explanation of who Pat Healy is. I was simply stating that like a lot of SF events, this one could have been more competitive. There are not enough top level competitiors in SF, and often lopsided cards are the result, it's that simple. I also question their matchmaking process. It's not to put any fighter down, as any one of these fights can go the way of the underdog. Anyone can win ANY fight, on any night.

Haha, Werdum was in title contention, until he got crushed and chased out of the UFC. But, no you're right, he left because he felt it would be more challenge to take the Strikeforce belt.

Not sure what you're on about, but it's a really, really good card and SF certainly hasn't held back on their admittedly relatively limited talent pool.

For me - everyone of those fights is a real treat. If you compare it to UFC 115 main and do your MMAth this card beats it by miles... so... wtf??

I'm glad you are being good about the comments.....It is a decent card, and I intend to watch every fight, but SF can do much better, or maybe they can't, and I just wish they could. I have no loyalty to the UFC or any organization, just love all things MMA and want to see the best fights, just like you. The UFC main card coming up is not their strongest, and I agree with you on that one. Don't know if it is sour grapes because of the whole Fedor thing, plus Pride is gone, or what. As much as I enjoy the UFC it is a little frustrating to see the stranglehold they seem to have on the MMA world, and the limitations it brings to other orgs.

Think you got me wrong - UFC 115 was their last card - not the upcoming one. And for sure this one is better:

    Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald

    Ben Rothwell vs. Gilbert Yvel

    Paulo Thiago vs. Martin Kampmann

    Mirko Filipović vs. Pat Barry

    Chuck Liddell vs. Rich Franklin

... a lot of those guys have in one way or another unfavourable stats or poor MMAth compared to the dudes on SFs card.

I fully agree with you on the UFC monopoly, but I'm not convinced it's relevant on this particular card. For sure it would be more interesting to see Fedor fight Cain or Cung fight Anderson - but how many of those fights are on the UFC cards?

The Strikeforce issue of thin divisions I see as a future problem and not necessarily one for the present, at least not while Coker insists on throwing all his chips in the pot. It's not a whole lot different to where UFC was when Pride were running things either... and I still enjoyed those shows...

And for sure Fedor vs. Werdum is NOT Tim Sylvia vs. Ricco Rodriguez for the belt. It's not even Sylvia vs. Arlovski/Couture which were the most thrilling HW fights during that time. I'd even go as far as claiming it beats the crap out of Lidell vs. Tito/Couture.

Bottom line is Strikeforce blows, they try to fast-tack their growth and success and they are going to end up out of business sooner or later. They also don't contribute anything to the sport outside of the fights themselves.

If you don't like strikeforce wtf are doing on here posting? You secretly can't wait to see the fights particularly Fedor. You can admit it, no shame in being a fan. I bet you post on more strikeforce articles too, as you must only read them if you have some interest. The fact you posted totally contradicts your statement.

haha new to mma right? Im not mma fanboy but ive been following it the last 10 years or so and the only good card is the fedor werdum and even still thats a weak fight for fedor.

Newflash. Strikeforce is a weak organization, they have 1-5 good fighters, get off fedors nutts everyone. Not preaching about ufc but yes the top fighters are in the ufc, not this weak crap.

If you think im right, click weak.

Not new in mma. I dont have anything against ufc, im not saying that strikeforce is one of the biggest or the best organization, i say that this is a good card and promise exciting fights. UFC have the majority of top fighters but there are excellent fighter in other organizations. Strikeforce is starting to offer better shows now and bringing other fighters, is good for the sport to have different organizations.

Lol@prediciton for Fedor vs werdum! It's almost as hard to call as the cyborg fight.

That said, i'm anxious to watch the both because it's not the result of these fights that's interesting, it's really how they get there. Hopefully Fedor vs werdum won't be another 5 minute sitdown.
