A battle of the fanciest pants in MMA is official for April 9th, as Dream Lightweight Champion Shinya Aoki will go head to head with Lyle "Fancy Pants" Beerbohm at Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley.

The match-up, first reported by MMA-Japan, was later confirmed by Strikeforce officials.

Aoki (26-5) debuted with the promotion last April at Strikeforce: Nashville, where he dropped a one-sided unanimous decision to Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez.  In the time since, the Japanese stand-out has racked up three consecutive victories, with wins over Tatsuya Kawajiri, Marcus Aurelio, and Yokthai Sithoar.  While he was knocked out by Yuichiro Nagashima in his most recent outing on New Year's Eve, the fight was contested under special rules and therefore does not affect his professional MMA record.

Beerbohm (15-1), meanwhile, looks to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Pat Healy at Strikeforce Challengers 14 last month.  Prior to the defeat, "Fancy Pants" was unbeaten in 15 fights, including three prior Strikeforce match-ups in which he submitted Ray Perales and Duane Ludwig before scoring a decision over Vitor Ribeiro.

Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley will take place April 9th from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California.  The stacked card will be headlined by a Welterweight title clash between division Champion Nick Diaz and challenger Paul "Semtex" Daley.  The Lightweight strap will also be up for grabs as Japan's Tatsuya Kawajiri will challenge current Champion Gilbert Melendez in the co-main event.

But the kid's got mad skills on the ground. I'd rather see him pull of a few more crazy submissions!

I honestly don't know what to think of Aoki as a general fight. On one side, hes probably one of the best in his domain; however, hes completely one dimensional. Also, hes an awful sport. I hope he betters himself in skill and personality because I think he could be a force to fear.

Aoki is a poor sport, drama queen, cheater (when he can get away with it), and I hope he ends up just like he did in his last fight, lying on the mat. That was really fun to watch.
