Scott Coker says he's not interested in Gerald Harris; Todd Duffee turned down an offer to fight Antonio Silva

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker stated he will not be looking to add the exciled UFC Middleweight Gerald "Hurricane" Harris to the Strikeforce roster. Harris was cut from the UFC after a disappointing performance against Maiquel Falcao at UFC 123, despite having a 3-0 all-knockout record in the promotion prior to the bout. Here's what Coker said on MMA Hour (quote via MMAMania.com) about the possibility of acquiring Harris's services:

"I talked to my guys about it, actually, they talked to me about it. I watched the fight [against Falcao], I didn't know how to judge it. Then they told me about his background and his past and things you are telling me now, that this guy is a tremendous athlete (who) has a ton of potential and just had bad showing or fought very cautious to try and win the fight. The only thing right now is we are really committed to the fighters we have under contract now and I want to make sure these guys get in the mix two or three next year. That doesn't mean we can't revisit with him, but for right now, I would say that I want to take care of the roster we currently have."

Meanwhile, ESPN's Josh Gross revealed that Todd Duffee turned an opportunity to face Antonio Silva at this weekend's Strikeforce: St. Louis fight card:

Now managed by Monte Cox. Turned down Strikeforce, Bellator offers... Duffee was offered Antonio Silva on short notice and didn't take it. Looks like he might fight in January on a smaller show.

Light Heavyweight collision between Benji Radach and Ovince St. Preux has been officially announced as a replacement for Herschel Walker's cancelled fight against Scott Carson. Both Radach and St. Preux known as knockout artists, promising an exciting match-up at Strikeforce St. Louis, which will take place on December 4th at the Scottrade Center.

I think Dana finally make an example out of somebody, too bad for Harris it happened to him, but it was perfect for Dana´s plan, I mean the guy had a name for himself but was not so important that would create a huge hole on the MW, it is a shame that happen to him but the UFC need it to make an example out somebody to avoid this kind of performances to keep happening, Harris was in the wrong place at the wrong time and that is that...

Idk why Duffee didn't take the fight, its stupid to think that he is willing to fight in no named shows instead of SF and as for Harris, why wouldn't you want him? hes exciting and well rounded, he would do well in SF

I think they do not want to be signing UFC rejects, or at least not every one of them, specially someone like Harris who could posibly dominate easily in the SF MW division, if that happens Dana White will keep saying that the guys htat could not make it in the UFC dominate any other promotion...

Like I said before Harris was at the wrong place in the wrong time.

Ya i agree with you on that, they dont wnt ex-ufc fighter atleast until they hve won once or twice outside the UFC, but I would have signed Harris and Duffee and maybe even Jardine by now if I was SF

its really bad form by the UFC cutting harris, for f-uck sake the guys won 10 out of his eleven fights, what the hell is the ufc doing, right he didnt fight the best fight last time out, but nearly all his fights he won by ko, if thats the cause why the **** is frank mir doing in the ufc he didnt even fight againist carwin, and his performance againist mirko was one of the worst fights i ever saw, ufc is going to piss of alot of fans if this keeps happening, treating fighters like a herd of cattle, harris i wish you success in life and keep your head up

Harris is not a bad fighter so I don't see why Scott Coker is acting like he doesn't want him on his roster

What's up with Duffy? Is he really that arrogant to think he's too good for Belator and Strikeforce? You gotta work your way up kid...

Based on what Duffy has had to say in the past I don't understand what makes you think he is just looking to get back in the UFC. Besides, the UFC has signed fighters from SF before. Guida was a SF LW champion before coming to the UFC and they added Shields from SF as well. The only thing I can think of is that he wasn't prepared to take a fight on short notice.I agree that Coker doesn't want to appear to be eating DW's leftovers.

i have a feeling harris may have been released based on other factors other than the fight, especially as SF havnt made a move to sign a clearly talented and exciting fighter. he may be an akward individual to work with behind the scenes or rubbed dana up the wrong way.

or dana could just be making an example of him; ufc do seem to cut people for fun these days...

I think that Coker is right not to sign the 2 ex UFC fighters as a lor of other people have said "IF" SF did sign this fighters and they dominated the respective weight division then Coker will only prove Dana White correct in saying that SF is the feeder club for the UFC (or somewhere along thous lines) BUT "IF" Coker waits for 4 to 6 months before signing the 2 ex UFC fighters then "IF" they do dominate the respective weight division he could always say that it was due to the fighters discipline to keep themselves in shape BUT "IF" they did not dominate the competition then he (Coker) can say that the UFC has discharged the fighters and he is just giving them a second chance which would be a feel good moment right?

Duffe turned down Silva? I hope he had good reason because that is crazy, I rank Big Foot miles higher then Duffe and I'd easily say that Duffe doesn't even deserve a guy as highly ranked as Silva.
