Scott Coker claims negotiations with M-1 are "going good"

Stikeforce president Scott Coker today spoke about his companies ongoing negotiations with M-1 for the services of Fedor Emilianenko. "The Last Emperor" and Strikeforce currently have a three fight deal, with one fight remaining, as much remains uncertain in regards to where the Russian will fight next. However, it seems Coker is content with dealings so far:

“As everybody knows we have a negotiation ongoing with M-1 right now, and I wish I had a simple answer, but it’s an ongoing negotiation.”

“I feel good about it, I feel good about the negotiations. Whether you’re dealing with Dream, or you’re dealing with M-1, or any foreign company there’s always a translation issue, and there’s always a cultural issue, and there’s just a lot of barriers that will come. We’re trying to navigate through the waters and get a fair deal for everybody.”

When asked how soon fans can expect to see Fedor fighting again, Coker added:

“Fedor will be fighting, I want to say sometime in the first quarter of 2011. I believe that’s when he’ll be fighting in the cage.”

While M-1 might want to see the WAMMA Champ in a rematch against the only man to legitimately defeat him, Fabricio Werdum, it would appear fans, Strikeforce and indeed Fedor would rather a match against the Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion, Alistair Overeem. The K1 striker has even called Fedor out personally, and was sitting cage side, ready to challenge Fedor, until his shock loss to Fabricio Werdum put "The Demolition Man"s plans on hold.

With the recent signing of Josh Barnett, and the current form of Antonio "Big Foot" Silva Strikeforce's Heavyweight division has never been stronger. As for Fedor's next opponent, that's anybody's guess.

There is no need for negotiations...he fights for SF, he should fight anytime Coker wants him too, this is the reason Dana prolly didn't accept Fedor's co-promotion terms...it takes ages to get Fedor to fight which isn't Fedor's fault but M1's but still M1 should just let Fedor fight so he can try to get back on track with a win

Yeah, it seems Strikeforce is always having trouble making the fights happen.. People might hate Dana but, at least he has balls.

I agree with you. Is Fedor fighting anytime soon? The answer is probably NO. I think Scott Coker needs to man up and put his foot down.

I agree with UG. Coker needs to make him fight. It's just hard for him to do that because if he doesn't want to fight, he still wouldn't want to release him. Fedor is one of his best assets if not the best.

While the best fighters are defending titles and fighting 2 or more times a year, all we hear from Fedor is negotiations...Something is deeply wrong about M-1 global or Fedor himself, not to make Strikeforce...We don't really know who's fighting who when, who is next in contention for titles...We all like Fedor, but it's unclear whether he's as eager to battle it with the best or not. Look at the Reem, he's leaving destruction everywhere he goes...Along with Cain, he's in the two 2 in my list.

I personally do not like fedar.

Why do u guys get so upset over this kind of stuff. This is the norm for SF and M-1.

Another thing is most guys on this site bash DW and how he runs things at the UFC, but yet the champs fight more than 1nce or 2ice a year. Thats why the UFC is superior in my mind compared to lets wait for another 6 months 2 put on another fight guys.

It's taken how many months to try and arrange a fight for Fedor and Coker calls negotiations "Good"

If they could get the deal done for a January 1st event they could go head to head against the UFC. Obviously they can not crush UFC but they could stick it to Dana and put a little dent in his pay per views. The fans would win in the end - not having to choose an event but getting to watch both. Fedor vs Werdum January 1st would be huge!

Look at this pic, no wonder fedor lost! He's all slumped over and not mentally there. There must be something going on in fedors life that they are not telling us. Otherwise he would have crushed werdum!

If you got brain you haveto do some negotions becos the bosses get millions and the fighters get nothing. Fedor is the only MMA fighter gets milions in his fights

M1 is like a diva, these "negotiations" are anti-climatic. They should pick just one person I dont care best or worst in the world, and have them fight Fedor, Fedor brings in $$$. And by jerking off they waste the $$$ Fedor could have already brought in. No wonder Dana makes fun of SF, they are a good organization but shitty business men.
