Answering on LowKick.com's question at the Strikeforce: Los Angeles Media Conference call, promotion's CEO Scott Coker seemed positive about the idea of Fedor Emelianenko fighting Alistair Overeem. "The Last Emperor" will not defend his WAMMA Heavyweight Title on June 26th, but may find himself en route for battle against "The Demolition Man". If he gets past Werdum:

"You can't call a fight before it's over. But I can tell you that if Fedor is victorious against Fabricio Werdum on June 26th, we will sit with M-1 and discuss the option of fighting Alistair Overeem."

Also, Strikeforce: Los Angeles main eventer Babalu Sobral will return after a long layoff against "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler on June 16th. Former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion revealed that he feels refreshed after a year-long layoff, working mostly on his striking and conditioning for the fight against Lawler.

Scot Coker revealed that the winner of the fight between Babalu and Lawler will receive a title shot in his division. The announcement promises an interesting match-ups, as Babalu could fight his teammate and friend King Mo and Robbie Lawler could face Jacare Souza (if Jake Shields leaves the promotion). Strikeforce: Los Angeles s scheduled to take place on June 16, at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

Main Card:

Catchweight (195 lbs) bout: Robbie Lawler vs. Renato Sobral
Welterweight bout: Marius Zaromskis vs. Evangelista Santos
Middleweight bout: Tim Kennedy vs. Trevor Prangley
Lightweight bout: Conor Heun vs. KJ Noons

this is so ridiculous. a few weeks ago overreem was a fairly average fighter who's biggest and only decent win was against a 2008 cro cop(past his best) but all of a sudden he beats brett rogers and he is a good opponent for fedor! wtf has brett rogers ever done?

If fedor beats overreem fedor fans will be sayin he is amazing but in reality overreem is a very average fighter just like most of fedors opponents

That is the reason why the UFC does things the way they do..... People run their mouths because they are clueless to whats going on. SF cant even get this guy to fight! They cant get the guy to challenge the champion of his promotion!! Thats nuts!! Most guys WANT a title shot!! Nope, not M-1, not if it means Fedor could lose!! Lol, its funny to me really, people wanna know why Dana wont co-promote!? Well, lets see... If Fedor were to become champ, he would kidnap the title and refuse to defend it against anyone decent.... M-1 would be trying to bring in Cabbage or someone to challenge for the UFC title! Its sad when Scott Coker cant even confirm a fight, especially when its the champ trying to call out a challenger.... Backwards ass garbage is what it is. That kinda shit is embarrassing.

According to obsessed Pride loons who ignore the fact that nearly all Pride fighters were unworthy of UFC contracts when Pride was bought. There are only a few exceptions. The vast majority who looked amazing in Pride, have looked terrible in the UFC.

Fedor is a paper champion holding an imaginary title that he wouldn't keep if he faced the top competition (which he won't).

That's the stupidest thing I've heard today...

You should go watch golf instead cause it seems MMA's too complex for you. You're saying Shogun, Rampage, Henderson, Wanderlei Silva, & ANDERSON SILVA all came to the UFC and looked terrible?!?! Get the UFC's di(k out of your mouth already...

There you go repeating the same shit again and again.

Shogun, Henderson, Silva, Rampage are some of the biggest names the ufc has. Not to mention that all the ufc champs that did visit Pride got their asses handed to them.

But I see your point. No one can of course compare to the undisputed 5-1 record of the current ufc hw champ. I mean wow, that's an impressive record man.

Better run or you'll miss the short bus to school.

The vast majority have looked horrible. Incredible destructive Pride animals, have looked weak and tired. That's simply reality. If you can't understand that the few exceptions don't disprove the love, then I can't help you. I can't fix your brain, you're stuck with it, sorry.

Just stick with the standard empty rationalization and pretend that they're old somehow suddenly the moment they come and face real competition.

Anderson Silva, Wanderlei Silva, Shogun, Rampage, Handerson, Big Nog, Little Nog came from Pride. SF - Overeem, Fedor, Werdum came from Pride. Only Cro Cop did not meet the expectations, but it looks like he is on his way up. All those guys competed in Pride at the same time as Arlovski, Tim Silvia, Couture and Liddell in the UFC. Pride fighters are still successfuly competing at the high level with the new comers like Machida, Brock, Shane, Mir, Rashad.

Scott Coker better make the fight between Alistair Overeem vs Fedor happens if Fedor beats Werdum. I really hope Fedor doesn't punk out though.

M-1 will NEVER let fedor fight Overeem. It's one more sh*t fight after Werdum and Fedor will officially retire and enter politics. Just as Feinklestein planned it.

In other words. After Fedor beats this latest easy opponent, they will sit down and figure out a way to avoid giving Fedor the title shot. Fedor beat Rogers, and Rogers got the shot.

Exactly. When you have a contract with a fighter, why do you have to sit down and discuss EVERY fight they have after that. They already sat down and "discussed" the Werdum fight TWICE. I hate M1

Co-promotion is only done in one sport. It has almost singlehandedly destroyed boxing, and it would be epically stupid to do it in MMA.

Cause we all know monopolies, dictators and communism are good for business. Down with the free market and competition. I'm sure Dana and the Fertitta mafia can be trusted to run the mma business by themselves.

    Sigh...

They aren't running the "mma business", they are running the biggest company in that sport. No one is saying the UFC is a monopoly, only that co-promotion, especially with M1 Global, is a bad idea.

You know I keep hearing you blabber on about "monopolies" when this topic comes up!! You surely do not believe that applies to this situation right?? So u think the NFL is bad for football huh? The NBA? MLB? PGA? Nascar? So these are all "communist" organizations by that logic right? C'mon man move around.....

Actualy I do. What people like you seem to be missing is that the NFL etc only organize and regulate the matches. They do not hire/own the actual football players! That's done by independent teams that...wait for it...compete with each other for hiring top players.

The UFC however wants to be the single MMA organization in the world that not only organizes all the matches but also owns all the fighters on exclusive (!) contracts.

Ergo an MMA fighter that wants to turn pro has no choice but to sign with the ufc for whatever ridiculous amount they offer because there are no alternatives. And you as a viewer have no option but to watch yet another washed up second-rater fight a clown because there will be no other pro mma events to watch.

That my obtuse friend is the definition of a monopoly.

What mma realy needs is a single independent organization that organizes all the matches, ranks competitors, applies the rules, and hands out suspensions etc but that does not itself *own* any fighters. Then you have something comparable to the other big sports organizations.

So 'blabber' on and please enlighten me, where are the holes in my argument?

I stopped reading pretty early on... Even if you make that argument with "teams" in football, which I could honestly totally pick apart, but I have a life, so I will skip straight to the point that I named a handful of other organizations that are quite the same as the UFC, which you obviously have no response to.... Additionally, the fact that they DO have optional companies to sign with to "turn pro" invalidates your ENTIRE argument right from the get go.... To bad you are slow, you coulda saved yourself 5 paragraphs!!

You're an idiot.... Like I said, you make NO sense. Monopoly suggests that one company dictates the market..... Thats NOT how mma is. There just simply isnt anything to argue about. Its cut and dry, get over it.... You're an idiot, period.

I wanna like Strike Force but they make it so hard. why should the president ( aka ) boss have to beg a fighter to fight ? that sh*t is retarded. That is why they will never truly rival the UFC b/c they can't keep their best fighters and the one's they do have run the show. Coker is a nice guy but being nice all the time gets you NOWHERE. Coker grow a nutsack and make this happen!
